****

Slough House is the Intelligence Service outpost for failed spies, former high-fliers now dubbed the 'slow horses'. Catherine Standish, one of their number, worked in Regent's Park long enough to understand treachery, double-dealing and stabbing in the back, and she's known Jackson Lamb long enough to have learned that old sins cast long shadows. And she also knows that chance encounters never happen to spooks, even recovering drunks whose careers have crashed and burned.

What she doesn't know is why anyone would target her.

So whoever's holding her hostage, it can't be personal. It must be about Slough House. Most likely, it's about Jackson Lamb. And say what you like about Lamb, he'll never leave a joe in the lurch.

He might even be someone you could trust with your life.

Best yet in the Slow Horses series

This is the third in the Slow Horses book series and the best yet. Wonderful to have the odious Peter Judd and devious politicking in this book. Sean Barrett’s narration is superb as usual - such a pleasure to listen to. Exciting, witty and full of great characters.

Great Story, Genius Narration

Super entertaining and well written story, the narrator brings it to life perfectly. He is a genius, I hope he narrates every book in the series

my new favorite writer

Superb reading too. It's sarcastic, dark, and I can almost smell the wet cigarette ash ...

So good

Highly recommend this. Herron’s Jackson Lamb and his team of Slow Horses are a balm in an increasingly f**ked up world, and I didn’t want it to end. Best book so far in the series but you need to start at the beginning. Brilliant performance,

Splendid

This is the third of the Slough House trilogy and I was sorry to get to the end. I had grown fond of all the Slough House inhabitants, even the appalling Jackson Lamb, who gets most of the best lines, and the nerdy Roderick Ho. All three books are wildly implausible, but terrific fun and beautifully written. The narrator, Sean Barrett, does all the characters justice. The Slow Horses have all had a good outing, but I hope another trilogy with different characters is in the pipeline.

A qualidade da narrativa

Muito bem narrado! Entendi tudo e fiquei com vontade de ler o livro também! Comprei os demais livros pelo Kindle e estou muito entusiasmada com a qualidade da narrativa! Superou as minhas expectativas! Recomendo vivamente os outros livros do Mick Herron

Excellent

The plot thickens. Lovely storyline. Builds up to the next book in the series. I cannot wait.

Slow writer

Some perhaps think that meandering around for ages before getting the story going is “charming” or the sign of “a great auteur”. It isn’t. It is inefficient storytelling and presumptuous navel gazing by the author.

Perhaps this works better as a TV series where more capable writers can take up the slack.
