Acerca de esta escucha

Best-selling author Andrew Peterson is back with a heart-stopping fourth installment of his wildly popular Nathan McBride series.

When a mysterious note referencing a top-secret US operation is tossed over the wall of the embassy in Nicaragua, Nathan McBride and his old pal Harv are called out of retirement by CIA Director Rebecca Cantrell and sent to Central America. Cantrell wants the situation resolved quickly and knows that Nathan is the man to do it; after all, he has a history with the place. The jungle he and Harv are about to land in is the same one that Nathan barely escaped with his life decades before, an ordeal that left him physically and psychologically scarred. To make it out alive a second time, Nathan will have to face down his own demons and square off with a ruthless killer who learned from the best, Nathan himself.

This is one of the best series I have listened to in a long time. Dick Hill does an unbelievable job narrating the story. I recommend this series to anyone.

Awesome Series

The story is good and fast moving but the raspy radio conversations are very irritating and total uncalled for. Not sure why the narrator felt he had to do it!!

Good story but radio voices very irritating!!

Too much intricate, minutiae detail about actions that have little, if any, effect in the plot. The whole story takes place over a few hour period, but the reader spends hours reading about a 30 minute sequence. The plot is very 2-dimensional and it would have been nice to have some of the recurring characters from previous boos. At least Harv is in this one (unlike the last).

Definitely not the best of the series.

Would you listen to Ready to Kill again? Why?

Yep, though my Hubby probably wouldn't just because he doesn't. Action packed, good story, great relationship stuff, flawed hero. The problems of the miners are sort of global, though this takes place in Nicaragua. Other geopolitical issues are as compelling...hate to give too much of the story away. As always, Nate and Harve are up to their necks and not sure if their predicament is deliberate or an accident on the part of their higher up.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

You figure Nathan will probably not die, but nothing else is sure. Hard to know who to trust. Peterson does his research and the situations and locations seem very true.

Which character – as performed by Dick Hill – was your favorite?

Always like Harve and Holly.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Good Training is Hard to Overcome

Any additional comments?

Keep 'em coming, Mr. Peterson!

Really enjoy Nathan and Harve

What did you love best about Ready to Kill?

The humanity of the main characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The "No-Nonsense" of Nathan McBride

What about Dick Hill’s performance did you like?

Always a winner

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ups and downs of the story, the hard hitting and softness of the characters kept me wanting more.

Any additional comments?

I am a big fan of this genre. I always have a book at the ready. This series of books is the most engaging and attention grabbing of all the rest.

The best of the best

Would you try another book from Andrew Peterson and/or Dick Hill?

Yes, but based on he strength of the first two books in the series, not based on how good this book was.

Would you ever listen to anything by Andrew Peterson again?

Yes. See above.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the first two books in the series. Haven't listened to the third one yet. All I can say is that this fourth installment sounded like it was ghostwritten. The style, tone, dialogue, etc. we're completely different from the previous books. So disappointing.

So weak compared to the earlier books.

this book is a bit different than the previous. still good, but not as fast paced or dramatic.

What made the experience of listening to Ready to Kill the most enjoyable?

It's a toss up between the author and the narrator! I've listened to all of the Nathan McBride novels. Andrew Peterson is a very talented author. His characters are interesting and the action is well thoughtout and described. The relationships between the characters definitely win me over as well - very believable!

And then there is Dick Hill. I will listen to ANYTHING that he narrates - his narrating abilities are stellar! He makes each character truly come alive, his timing is phenomenal, his accents are well done. No one else could be the voice of Nathan. Or Harv. Or even Holly.

Can't wait for the next Nathan McBride!

Adrenaline rushes as Nathan and Harv return to Nicaragua, where Nathan barely escaped with his life decades earlier . . .and now it looks like Raven, a sniper that Nathan trained years ago, may have gone rogue . . . called back into duty by the CIA, Nathan and Harv team up with Estefan, another operative they trained in Nicaragua, to track down and find the man who killed Estefan's father, the local pastor. Drug cartels, seedy hotels and dirty officials . . . and plenty of action follow Nathan and Harv as they try to find Raven and learn what is behind the murder of the pastor. Excellent narration, great story line, great resolution . . . . bottom line . . . you can't go wrong with Andrew Peterson's Nathan McBride series . . .

Hits the Mark with Book 4
