About this listen

The devil went down to Texas. Big mistake!

Yesterday, James “Cowboy” Stone was Ransom’s golden boy, a football god. Today, he’s their savior, a warrior in a destiny he never expected. The devil got hold of Cowboy’s small West Texas town, and all hell’s broken loose. His friends have become enemies, and the love of his life…gone. Death surrounds him, but what must be will be. He’s already lost everything, so now, he’ll do anything necessary to stop the evil.

Cowboy has a job to do or the entire world will pay. He has one night to save humanity. One night to derail the devil’s plans. In this battle of good vs. evil, will the hero prevail or will he pay the ultimate price while the world burns around him?

Whatever happens…in life or in death, there will be hell to pay.

The story was great but the narration not so much

I'm normally a romance reader but I found this story to be enjoyable even without the romance plot. I didn't find it to be a struggle to finish like usual when I'm reading a book that is not Romance. I think that speaks volumes to the talent of the writers.

I did not find this book to be predictable and I like that I couldn't see what was going to happen next. the only con to this book was some parts were a little too filtered through the character's eyes so it was a little hard to connect on some parts emotionally. but one of my favorite things was there are things that I didn't think would choke me up that made me want to cry and I think that's a great thing.

this book is set up to have a ending that let you know that there's a possibility for more books to come without it feeling like a cliffhanger. knowing how to in the book is a talent all it's own

The narrator was a little too computer-animated for me and almost ruined the story for me. if the story wasn't as strong as it was to make me want to continue the story this would have been a dnf solely based on the narration.

Thankfully the story was interesting enough to make me get over the narration and his style eventually grew me. but I cannot say I will want to listen to another book by him.

I think the biggest thing that took me out of the story with the narrator Is not only was he a little automated sounding but also because when it was time for him to do the voices of the demon possessed people, the author describe that sounding Sinister and creepy and laced with Venom, but the narrator made them sound happy-go-lucky like they was just having a mighty nice hoe-down. I would have liked to have heard demon and be able to stay in the story and enjoy the experience.

listen to the sample audio clip and if you think you can get past the narration then I highly recommend this book for the plot alone

Unprecedented take on demons from hell

I have read several books by EL DuBois and found each one to be captivating and well written. This is the first I have read by the two authors and definitely enjoyed the story. I’m hooked!

I loved the Native American tale on ridding the world of the demons from hell. Going through the change to becoming the savior or guardian has to be tough for an 18 year old and coming to terms with it keeps the story interesting. Highly recommend to anyone that enjoys books of good versus evil.
David has a unique voice and, while I read some reviews that left him wanting, I found him to be an excellent narrator. I look forward to hearing more stories from him.
