About this listen

“Quotist” means quote artist or writer. These are quotes about my random thoughts, analyses, practical knowledge, useful info you probably didn’t know, or interesting facts I have run into, occasionally.

These are the first 15 quotes.

1. Most people falsely assume that “Rocky (1976)” is the first film Sylvester Stallone starred in – wrong! In Wikipedia, I actually counted that it’s the 18th movie he has ever appeared or taken a role in. Not giving up may be the key to success.

2. Along with our fundamental eating and sleeping desires, humans have a strange unrecognized desire to trust or believe in something unconditionally. Religions have taken advantage of it well.

3. Frequently, owning and spending money, rather than being short of it, causes a problem.

4. The other day, I watched a relationship expert say, “Women never want to be a man’s only goal.” Instinctively, I believe a woman doesn’t choose a man if she feels that she is too good for him.

5. In that sense, “love between men and women” is merely a non-existing fantasy. There are more calculations and transactions than emotions in mating.

6. Instead of chasing women, just do your job. There is no visible advantage to being in a relationship than being single, unless you prefer confinement to freedom.

7. The girl (or boy) you are obsessed with is not a special one – Never! According to a dating expert, idealization is simple psychology in which people start believing that way, especially in the forming stage of a relationship. In other words, people just idealize their partners for no reason when they are in love.

8. Getting too much money all at once can be a curse. We need to be the most careful, right after something “too good to be true” happens.

9. Subconsciously, no one is happy after spending money. Spending is a kind of loss in many cases; many of what we buy is pointless and unnecessary these days. Everyone feels depraved, ripped off or worried after losing “resources to survive,” after all.

10. Saving money and living frugally is not for finance – it’s for physical and mental peace. When we show lavish spending, we can be physically attacked, too.

11. There is no point for anyone to live an extremely diligent and proficient life. We won’t get a medal of honor for “too much hard work” from heaven after we die.

12. Some people work blindly hard and save since they believe money has an “absolute value” – it does not! It’s merely a social promise, which has been broken regularly.

13. We don’t have to be good at everything. In fact, we don’t have to be the best at anything.

14. “Keeping a few little joys” can save our entire lives. Little joys don't have to be expensive – for example, it can be something like browsing the internet, reading a comic or eating a tasty slice at your favorite pizzeria. When harsh moments come, those little fun will sustain your life.

15. Writing is not exactly delightful fun to me, but it brings me meaning. In other words, I feel I waste the whole day (again) whenever I don’t write anything. I feel fulfilled when I write something or publish a book.
