Publisher's summary

The incredible rags-to-riches story of acclaimed actor Brian Cox, best known as Succession’s Logan Roy, from a troubled, working-class upbringing in Scotland to a prolific career across theatre, film, and television.

From Hannibal Lecter in Manhunter to media magnate Logan Roy in HBO's Succession, Brian Cox has made his name as an actor of unparalleled distinction and versatility. We are familiar with him on screen, but few know of his extraordinary life story. Growing up in Dundee, Scotland, Cox lost his father when he was just eight years old and was brought up by his three elder sisters in the aftermath of his mother's nervous breakdowns and ultimate hospitalization. After joining the Dundee Repertory Theatre at the age of 15, you could say the rest is history - but that is to overlook the enormous effort that has gone into the making of the legend we know today.

Rich in emotion and meaning, with plenty of laughs along the way, this seminal autobiography captures both Cox's distinctive voice and his very soul.

Wonderful insights from one of my favorite actors

Brian Cox has been one of my favorite actors since first meeting him in The Ring. His summary of his experiences on stage and screen has helped further rekindle a love of storytelling in me. I hope I get a chance to see him on stage someday.

great book!!!

Great read! Lots of theater talk but also a great deal of good life lessons... like don't let Michael Gambon hang out haha!

Fantastic

Brian Cox telling you the Brian Cox story. Can't beat it. And oh what a cameo in that prologue.

Absolutely great

Brian not only reads his memoir but almost performs it. Period coming from the theater I imagine that’s a big part of it but I’m not sure there’s a better way to experience the score then having him read it

Intelligent, Engaging, Well Written

Brian Cox presented us a gift by writing about his long, successful acting career. The true story of inside the life of theater, movies, and directing, was both fascinating and gratifying. I felt that I was both intellectually stimulated and entertained. I would recommend the audible version, an additional treat to the ears to hear his accent and his speaking his well schooled version of the written word.

Voice to remember

The very long list of plays and movies I’ve never heard of, was enjoyable because this guys voice is amazing. And getting the full back story is just fun. It’s a perfect listen while you’re doing other stuff.

Really liked the audible

Brian Cox was fantastic as always. I’m not sure I would have kept reading it as a book, but I loved it with Cox narrating it

Non-Linear Story

Lots of behind the scenes stories, many with actors I has never heard of before. Very little on the recent hit Succession.
