About this listen

I feel like I am wrapped in a cyclone. Everything is whirling around me, drawing the air out of my lungs and filling me with the best kind of turmoil. Every time his tongue slides against mine, a prickle in my gut tells me how right we are together. How much I need David. How much I need us. I hope the cyclone never stops. Emma Searfoss has spent a lifetime trying to escape her abusive stepfather. It's why she moved far away from home. It's why she's kept no ties with her remaining family. And it's why she's got a major rage problem. When her neighbor shows up to fix the kitchen in her new apartment, his enigmatic charm calms the fire in her. David is cool and collected, and he makes Emma feel safe for the first time ever. But David has his own chilling past - his six previous girlfriends have all disappeared without a trace. Emma's walking a dangerous line, but David's pull is intoxicating. And impossible to resist...

Proving love

Narrators:
Claire wallis
Chloe Campbell
Anne Davidson
Christine vam
Elizabeth Evans
Rachel yodder
Terese Plummer
Luke Daniels
Lauren fortgang

I couldn’t even begin to identify which one of these narrators performed which scenes or characters I’m at a disadvantage not having heard of any one of them. I take that back I can ascertain which one was Luke Daniels.

While I quite enjoy the tone and sound of these narrators I do wish they had accommodated the tone and sound of David’s voice in each chapter. Excluding the final epilogue which Luke Daniels voiced David’s epilogue. I’m not sure why Luke didn’t perform David’s voice in the other chapters. I would’ve liked that.

Each one of these narrators performed the voices of the six other characters while the two others performed the voice of Emma from the past and present. It’s difficult to review the performances individually given that I couldn’t distinguish who was performing which characters.

Overall:
Emma and David go from zero to 💯 with an intensity that is hot. That blue panty scene cemented that intensity.

I read this book back in 2014. This was a revisit with the audiobook. I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to hear these characters being voiced. I was anticipating that blue panty scene. It’s what I remembered most from Push. That scene was smokin’ hot. Somehow I forgot about the bridge and it’s importance.

It’s a profound story with graphic sex scenes. David’s character is unhinged in an intense way. He’s driven by the need to find an unselfish love so pure that it sets the birds free.

They are one and the same, both wanting unconditional love with a great need to protect the other.

The writing is splendid. Claire is a skillful writer provoking emotions in just the right places.

***Gasps***

Would you listen to Push again? Why?

Yes, and that's because I can't believe what I was reading. I was thinking why would all those women think having to stand on the edge of a bridge will prove David loves them? Then they stayed there silently while he tied them up, and put weights on their feet? Gah, by the time he is saying 'if you want to prove you love me then you will'...., I would have showed him the door. Pronto. Then our heroine Emma did the same thing????? SMH....

What was one of the most memorable moments of Push?

All of it. Men, it was intense. I read a book 'Sociopath' by Lime Craven, and I thought the hero was messed up, this is in a class by itself. Help....

Have you listened to any of Chloe Campbell and Anne Davidson ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Nope.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Honestly? I didn't know whether to cry for all those women or to laugh at stupid Emma for taking the bait.
