About this listen

After salvaging the Queen’s Jewels from the wreck of the Nuestra Señora Farnese, Buck Reilly’s finally back on top. Once more hailed as a world class archeologist, he’s riding the wave of success…until his past mistakes begin to surface from the depths. The questionable provenance of his latest find, not to mention the death of his former partner, Jack Dodson, have drawn the eye of law enforcement agencies, from the Bahamian Police to Interpol. As the evidence against him piles up (and legal fees begin to loom), Buck reluctantly agrees to track down a mysterious cache of “great value,” hidden somewhere on Key West by the original owner of the island. But he’s not the only one. Dozens of treasure hunters have descended on the island, and some will stop at nothing to find the stash first.

Buck’s friends all rally to his cause, but the odds are stacked against them. Can they find the treasure before the competition closes in—and before Buck ends up behind Bahamian bars? Get ready for a grueling race against the clock in the ultimate scavenger hunt.

Critic reviews

"Cunningham delivers every time with his Buck Reilly series, and Purple Deceiver is no exception. A gripping plot wound around historical names and places with Buck careening through the middle!" (Nicholas Harvey, USA Today best-selling author)

“Fans of treasure hunt stories and readers who enjoy tales with clever riddles and terrifying antagonists will enjoy this book. I'm just discovering the Buck Reilly Adventure series, and I can't wait to read more. You don't have to have read the previous installments to enjoy this one, but once you do, you won't be able to resist the temptation.” (Manhattan Book Review)

Another great book in the series!

I picked up the first book in the series on the recommendation of a friend. He is a friend of the author and truthfully I didn’t expect much. I have been pleasantly surprised. The whole series has been great and I can’t wait for the next one to come out.

Buck keeps getting better!

One of the most fun series I’ve run across for characters, locations and narration. While the virus section should have been skipped, it’s yet another super book. The characters development from book to book is great. Highly recommended!

Keep them coming

Love the series. In my opinion, Kyle Tait's performance matches the personalities of the protagonist and supporting characters.
I would Love to see a Book 11.

Trouble is, trouble does.

The character of Buck does a lot of crazy stuff, like telling Preacher Lennie all his detailed story, and getting back with his ex, but somehow comes out on top in spite of all his mishaps.
