About this listen

Protecting His Best Friend’s Sister was originally published as Duty Bound. It has since been expanded, revised, and re-edited.

The only woman I want is the one I can never have.

Harper. My best friend’s sister. I’ve wanted her since I was eighteen, but she’s always been off-limits. Now I’m home after years in the Marines, and nothing has changed - except everything has. Her brother is dead, and she’s on a hopeless quest for answers about his death.

And I want her just as much as ever.

Someone is trying to kill her now, and she won’t let me keep her safe. I have to protect her anyway, even if she doesn’t trust me, even if she hates me for it. A man protects what’s precious to him, whether or not he can ever claim her for his own.

And Harper has always been precious to me.

❤ Oh Levi ❤

I absolutely loved how this author duo created an alpha male character who had a softside for his feelings of the heroine. Levi was definitely an alpha with his bossy protectiveness and bedroom talk, but open in his inner dialogue about his feelings for Harper. This book had suspense, mystery, and romance.

I am a sucker for Joe Arden & Maxine Mitchell, they brought the characters to life... yet again ❤

HOT HOT HOT ALPHA'S

I like hot men strong women and a little possessiveness mixed in with a little bit of jealousy. You get all of this in this first book. I can't wait to start the next one. BYE!

Annoying Heroine

Loved the narrators ... the heroine, not so much. Immature to the point of annoyance and beyond.

Lovely narration

An easy to listen to, high paced story.
There were twists I didn't see coming and the suspense was high.
Levi and Harper were infuriating at times (with their ever changing emotions) but I did enjoy their dynamic.

Joe and Maxine did a fabulous job.

Protect your heart from this amazing listen

Have it in Audio
Book 1 in a new series by Samantha Chase and Noelle Adams
This is a fast pace listen . It has it all revenge ; love ; intrigue and learning how to let go
Hero is Levi Heroine is Harper .
Harpers brother Cole dies on duty and Levi can’t forgive himself. He thinks he didn’t cover all the bases.
Harper is a tough of nailes , don’t give me any shit female. She is snooping trying to see how and Why Cole died Someone is after her .
Meanwhile Levi is trying to protect her and his heart . He has had feelings for a long time but he doesn’t know what to do . He needs to keep,Harper safe and find out who is after her

The team of Joe Arden and Maxine Michelle nailed it right on. They brought the characters to live. In some parts I loved how Maxine just gave it all her worth

Good start to a series!

I really feel like this is a good start to a series. There was a lot of chemistry between Levi and Harper. Add in the action and romance and it really did check a lot of my mental boxes. The only problems that I found where the unsatisfaction I felt when the main plot line that had been building and building wasn’t resolved. It was left hanging and I didn’t appreciate that. Maybe it will keep going on through the books but I felt like that should have been more clear. Like if there had been a cliffhanger with just that one plot point with Gavin... that would have made it obvious it would be carrying on and the whole book would have changed for me.

Otherwise, it was great. Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden are complete professionals and make the story so amazing and come to life. Love them both.

Great start to the series

I downloaded this book because it was narrated by Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell. I love that this series has four alpha males who are former military. Since it's the first book, it has a lot to go over to set the rest of the series up. I enjoyed it overall and will listen to the other 3 books.

WOW

I normally don't write review but I have never had such a visceral dislike for a character, but Harper has changed all that. I just want to punch her. I have not finished it yet, I just hope she gets over herself. Love the narrators. They are two of my fav's. I love listening to any book narrated by Joe Arden xoxoxox
