Acerca de esta escucha

When Petunia, the youngest of King Gregor's 12 dancing daughters, is invited to visit an elderly friend in the neighboring country of Westfalin, she welcomes the change of scenery. But in order to reach Westfalin, Petunia must pass through a forest where strange two-legged wolves are rumored to exist. Wolves intent on redistributing the wealth of the noble citizens who have entered their territory. But the bandit-wolves prove more rakishly handsome than truly dangerous, and it's not until Petunia reaches her destination that she realizes the kindly grandmother she has been summoned to visit is really an enemy bent on restoring an age-old curse.

The stories of Red Riding Hood and Robin Hood get a twist as Petunia and her many sisters take on bandits, grannies, and the new King Under Stone to end their family curse once and for all.

Like Merlin, I am reading this trilogy backwards. The story is so written that you can easily keep track of who is who, doing what to whom. Actually, even if the dozens of royalty get mixed in your head, as in any JDG book, you know that the last persons standing are the heroes.

My only beef (or thorn) is that (as Anton Chekov once said, if there is a gun mentioned in a story, it must be used) a fairly modern hammer-style pistol is mentioned hundreds of times. I found myself shouting "Just use it, already. Sheesh." Then, at a critical moment, with metal bars crammed into the barrel "for extra effect", I wanted to scream, "Don't pull the trigger!!!!"

Some parts of the story were a little confusing, but I was still able to enjoy it.

The lovely voice of the author.

This is a cute simple read. Pretty much a repeat of book one, but I didn’t mind. Overall great book.

Simple and cute

It was cool that one of the 12 princesses ended up being the girl in the woods wearing the red hood as a red riding hood retelling. I loved how it ended and how they solved the under stone problem. So good.

Another cool twist!

Oh my goodness, Jessica Day George has a beautiful turn of phrase. Her descriptions are vivid without being long winded, she has no trouble weaving plot points from the last two books into the narrative as if it were nothing but a natural step in the progression of the story.

I read the first of this series when I was 9 years old. It opened up my heart to fairytale retellings and I have been chasing the feeling it left me in every other fantasy book I’ve read since.

It was only recently that I discovered this was a series and not just a one-off. My love for the characters and this world has only grown with this addition and I am happy to say it was never a disappointment. I am ever so pleased at the ending and ever hopeful for the next story I may read from this author. Even if it is an entirely different world I have the pleasure of reading about!

Finally finished a childhood read, and I loved it!

the characters have so much depth! Jessica Day George has done her magic again. this conclusion of the PRINCESS OF THE MIDNIGHT BALL trilogy is very excellent! if you love Jessica Day George's other books or Gail Carson Levein's novels, you'll love this book and the rest of the trilogy. 🥰❤️

Lovely fairytale retelling!!!
