Surprising

i really enjoyed the way these two started so opposed to each other and ended up being exactly what the other needed. Good suspense and very likable characters.

Nail-biting good!

FBI Agent Conner Perigo is tasked to bring in Adrienne Jeffries, who has an uncanny ability to get inside the minds of San Francisco’s most dangerous criminals. Reluctant, Adrienne agrees, and together they race against time to catch Simon Says, a serial killer who seems to be one step ahead of the FBI, kidnapping and killing his victims.

Unfortunately, Conner, through no fault of his own, seems to be blocking Adrienne’s gift, which becomes deadly when the killer gets a hold of Adrienne.

Having read the e-book a year ago, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Janie Crouch also had an audiobook version, of Primal Instinct. I loved the story then, and I love it all the more now that I listened to the narration of Barbara Creel Benjamin, because she gave life—and justice—to an already awesome read!

Romance and a Serial Killer!

Interesting story! Loved the serial killer angle, and it's not completely obvious who it is, but I did have who it was on my suspects list. The suspense was fun! There's also a cool sort of psychic angle that was great, and I liked how the story unfolds. I did like the romance, but I didn't really see what drew Adrienne to Connor in the beginning. I wish there was a little more to the romance angle of the story. Connor is an FBI agent, who is tasked with bringing in Adrienne to help find a serial killer. Adrienne can feel evil in people and items, and Connor is unbelieving, so he's a bit of a butt to her. The story has a good build up, and I liked all of the characters. The characters are a little stiff, but still likable. The writing could've flowed a little better, but all in all, I really enjoyed the story. I listened to Primal Instinct on the Romance Audible Package, and I liked the listening experience.

Mixed Feelings

I had mixed feelings about this audiobook. At first, I loved it and couldn't stop listening. I loved the psychic versus serial killer premise and the characters. It seemed really suspenseful and held my attention. However, about halfway through, it started to become predictable and unbelievable. The author made it pretty obvious who the killer was, and even the "surprise" twist at the end was somewhat predictable. I became frustrated when characters did things that were either unbelievable in order to further the plot or would make them the worst FBI agents in history. I don't want to give spoilers, so I'll just say they figured out something about the killer that should have made them not trust the person who turned out to be the killer, but who do they trust the most? The person who turns out to be the killer, of course! I don't know if this was an early book of hers. I really feel like she has a lot of potential, and I liked enough it to try some of her other romantic suspense books.

The narration was pretty good. It wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't bad, either.
