The Bennet family is in a bit of a jam. With five daughters and no sons, their property is entailed away from their line, and all the women will be largely penniless when their father dies. And so the best way to ensure the most comfortable livelihood for all is for at least one of the five girls to marry “well”, which has their mother’s sharp eye ever seeking a single man in possession of a good fortune.

The situation deepens when we take a look at the ladies in question. For the Bennet sisters aren’t wholly on board with marrying anyone flung at them. And when the solicitous Mr. Bingley moves in to an elaborate estate nearby, bringing with him some illustrious company, the entire Bennet household is flung on its end. The result is Austen’s signature novel, where many subtle shades of pride do battle with multitudinous layers of prejudice.

B. J. Harrison is one of my favorite narrators. His reading of P&P was stellar! His voice is rich and does justice to this story.

P&P is a classic for a reason. The characters and story sparkle and come to life.

I love this story and I love this narration

Always a favorite

I’ve read this countless times, but this was my first time listening to it on audio. Very well done.

excellent narration

I have read and listened to Pride and Prejudice so many times that I habe memorized most of the dialogue. This narration is by far the best I have ever heard! It must be difficult to narrate the grating accents of Mrs Bennet but this narrator does so without causing me to flinch ....very well done !!

Elizabeth ahead of her time.

Elizabeth was ahead of her time and her own woman who was influenced by what is good and kind. Mr.Darcy was fortunate to meet her acquaintance. it was a lovely story and enjoyed it grestly

BJ Harrison does Pride and Prejudice, magical!!

I love BJ Harrison's voice, I love Pride and Prejudice and BJ does a magnificent job narrating! the tones and inflections for the different characters are amazing. His voice is soothing and entertaining, I'll be listening over and over! audible, please have BJ narrate ALL the Jane Austen books!!

A timeless classic for good reason

This story, in audio book form and in movie and TV show form, has kept me company through many stressful situations and sleepless nights and likely will for many more.

A well written classic but…

The book is a classic and though slow to start, beautifully written. The choice of one male narrator was I’ll advised. He rarely distinguished the girls voice’s enough in the early part of the book and began to mix up voices previously used later in the book. He made it hard to listen to.

loved it during our roadtrip

the narration was really great. the only complaint was that there were times when his voice was too quiet when doing deeper voices.
