About this listen

In New York Times bestselling author Dale Brown's Price of Duty, the stakes are high as the U.S. and its Western allies come under a diabolical Russian cyberwarfare attack

In a top-secret location deep in the Ural Mountains, Russian President Gennadiy Gryzlov has built his nation's most dangerous weapon since the atomic bomb - an intricate network of underground tunnels and chambers designed to launch a carefully plotted series of attacks on an unsuspecting U.S. and its European allies.

The first strike targets Warsaw, Poland, where Russian malware wipes out the records of nearly every Polish bank account, panicking the rest of Europe. When the besieged U.S. president, Stacy Anne Barbeau, fails to effectively combat the Russian threat, Brad McLanahan, on some well-earned R&R with his new Polish girlfriend, Major Nadia Rozek, is called back to duty.

As the Russians' deadly tactics escalate - including full-scale assaults on Europe's power grid and the remote hijacking of a commercial airliner that kills hundreds of civilians - McLanahan and his Scion team kick into gear. With the world's fate hanging in the balance, will Scion succeed in turning back Gryzlov before he can realize his terrifying ambition to conquer the globe?

Good story, poor execution.

This narrator should stay away from technical, military, and political fiction. GRU is pronounced G-R-U not grue. He almost stumbles on technical military terms. I almost stopped listening twice. Only reason I finished is the story.

Great book! You need to complete unabridged books for all of Dale Brown’s books.

Great book and narration. Another well thought out edge of the seat book. Impossible to put down.

Little far fetched

Not as good as earlier Brown books but entertaining. Ok to recommend but not one of the best.

Well done.

A lot of real life stuff that makes you think about the future and how high tech will play a role in defense and war.

Less Suspense

Overall, a quick read but less suspenseful than Iron Wolf. I think the cyber warfare in this story made the book less exciting than prior books that have more special ops action in the field. The book has some of the high-tech weaponry as previous novels, but the storyline isn’t as compelling. Although some of the story is far-fetched that is also part of what made the story entertaining. I do hope the series soon gives the US a new president because Stacy Anne Barbeau is getting tiresome to read. Overall, this was probably closer to 3.5 stars, but I rounded up because of some of the action towards the end.

MacLeod is an excellent narrator, and he gave each character their own voice although I was surprised the producer allowed the G-R-U to be pronounced Grue.

This book review needs a title....

Plucked from the headlines--sorta! Russian cyber intrusion causes our mercenary heroes to react. POTUS, Adrianne Barbeau (Hillary) can't make a liberal decision. So, the boys go after the Russian cyber site with kinetic weapons using modified airplanes. There could have been more geekdom here as the research on this 14+ hour book is mostly hardware related. As always, you love to hate the Russian premier. We find the future of world warfare and cyber warfare combined and being carried out to the end. Makes you wonder?

Good read, except

What did you like best about Price of Duty? What did you like least?

Fell in love with the Old Dog and never looked back. As with allot of authors over the years have added allot of profanity to their novels. Call me a prude but I don't like it in my books or movies, it just distracts from the read. Might not got the next one cause of it. I bought if anybody says that the book would have been better with profanity in it.
