The papacy is no stranger to controversy. In many ways it’s Catholicism’s defining doctrine—but also its most divisive. From medieval pontiffs who acted like princes to a modern pope whose every casual statement sets off a social-media firestorm, there has been plenty for non-Catholics to criticize and for the faithful to feel anxious about.
We profess that Jesus made St. Peter the visible head of his Church on earth and that his successors throughout the ages are guided by the Holy Spirit to govern, teach, and sanctify it. How can we strengthen this belief in the papacy in the face of challenges (both outside the Church and within it) and so strengthen our faith in the One who instituted it?

Clear and straightforward
Fantastic and clear breakdown of the papacy! As a reformed Protestant turning Catholic, I so appreciate all that Joe does both in this book, in his other books and in his podcast. If you want a great charitable and honest view of the papacy, this is your book!

Need more Joe on audible!!!
Joe did such a great job reading his book! Its about as listenable as a podcast. Usually podcasts are a bit more easy to listen to just because you get more voice influxes and emotion. Joe made this audiobook sound almost like a podcast!
On another note, it would be amazing to get more of Joes books on audible! Would love to see “the early church was the Catholic Church.” Your podcast is my favorite and your writing is just as good if not better.
