About this listen
Der Politikos berührt viele Themen, die für Platons Philosophie zentral sind und die er ausführlicher in anderen Dialogen behandelt. So steht der Politikos im engen Zusammenhang mit der Staatsphilosophie, wie Platon sie uns in der "Politeia" und in den "Nomoi" entwirft. Indem auch Äußerungen zur Dialektik und zur Ontologie fallen, werden zudem klare Bezüge zum "Sophistes" und zum "Philebos" erkennbar. Schließlich finden sich durch den eingeschobenen Mythos vom Weltenlenker deutliche Anknüpfungspunkte zur Kosmologie, wie Platon sie uns im "Timaios" und auch in den "Nomoi" vorstellt. So gibt es also auch in diesem Spätwerk Platons viel zu entdecken und zu lernen. Tatsächlich schrieb Platon den Dialog wohl auch aus didaktischen Gründen, lässt er doch mitten im Dialog den Gast folgende bemerkenswerte Aussage tätigen:
"Wie steht es also für uns jetzt mit der Untersuchung des Staatsmanns? Haben wir sie bloß um seinetwillen angestellt, oder nicht vielmehr, um überhaupt in der Dialektik stärker zu werden?"
Und in der Tat: In Hinsicht auf die Methode zur Erkenntnisgewinnung führt uns Platon so ziemlich alles vor, was das damalige Philosophieren zu bieten hat, angefangen bei der Methode der Begriffszergliederung, über das Gleichnis bis hin zur Implementierung eines Mythos zur radikalen Neuausrichtung des bisherigen Gesprächs. Allein dafür lohnt schon die nähere Beschäftigung mit diesem Dialog.
Neben dem komplett eingelesen Dialog in der Übersetzung von Otto Apelt enthält das Hörbuch als Zusatzmaterial zweit informative Essays über den Politikos:
- 1. Essay: Theodor Gomperz' Ausführungen über den Politikos, entnommen aus seinem Standardwerk Griechische Denker, Band 2.
- 2. Essay: Ein Blick des Sprechers Volker Braumann auf die Rolle und Funktion der beiden Gesprächspartner des "Politkos" für den Verlauf und die Deutung des Dialogs.
