The last thing the people in the small town of Frost Peak want is the kind of “progress” that Mickey Grimes and his real estate conglomerate is pushing. So, when he's found murdered out on the frozen tundra, the list of suspects seems endless.
That is, until the sheriff learns that Frankie's cousin Kaia threatened to kill the developer after he injured her sled dog with his car. And when it's determined that Grimes himself was run over by a vehicle, Kaia finds herself in big trouble.
But Frankie knows her cousin is innocent, and to clear Kaia's name, she will rely on her newfound magical skills and the help of her polar bear familiar Ragnar to discover the truth.
Since Sheriff Brodie's investigation is heading down the wrong path, it's up to Frankie to save her cousin and find the murderer herself. However, she's in for the fight of her life when the person who has secretly been fleecing the town of Frost Peak sets their sights on her.
