About this listen

A beautiful nurse. A lethal injection. A gruesomely charred corpse.

Nothing could have shocked the sleepy community of Morgantown, West Virginia, more than the lurid details that surfaced after a house fire claimed the life of Shelly Michael's husband, Jimmy. Local authorities suspected possible arson. Then they discovered that Jimmy had been dead before the fire even started - paralyzed by a fatal dose of muscle relaxant....

Did Shelly Michael, a respected nurse and mother, kill her second husband and torch her own home? Were the rumors true that she'd had an affair with her husband's employee only two weeks before the murder? Or did she kill Jimmy simply for the insurance money? Charged with first-degree murder and first-degree arson, Shelly would never stop claiming her innocence - even to this day.

A straightforward account of a horrible murder. The narrator was first class.

This is a well told story with full attention to details and I loved the way the narrator told the story.

Incredible. True crime.

Immediately after finishing I got online to give this review. It was the perfect true crime story without unnecessarily repeated references and scenes. Not too podcast-y, not boring. Not too detective or law bent…. The perfect true crime book imo. More!

Well written and superb narration!

A LITTLE MUCH IN THE DETAIL DEPARTMENT but that makes you understand the dynamics of the situation and the resulting crime which was pure evil....

This was a great book, takes a minute to understand the players but you will if you hang in there and once you know you won’t be able to stop listening. A must listen. Money well spent

I've listened to alot of true crime on audible with many different scenarios but This one was off the charts chilling and pure evil, lacking any sense of empathy or remorse. Chilling!!

Cold Blooded!!

Good book to listen to. Good story and good job on the narration.
What is hard for me to believe is as smart as Shelly was, she thought her lies were convincing. She had such an ego and I can only assume she is still declaring her innocence.

Good Book

From one Nurse to another Nurse who is rotting in prison.....When the Pathologist does a Toxicology screen......next time understand that he is going to check for Rocuronium!!! Her husband is still in his bed, didn't move as the fire burned. No foul play here. How she thought she would get away w/Murder, an affair and everything else is beyond me. Moral of the story...There's a new legal process out there....DIVORCE.

As a Nurse myself I can say this nurse is "DUMB!"
