Jill Shalvis knows romance

I love reading Jill Shalvis' books. She just plain tells a good love story. I wasn't sure if I would like the narrator, but turns out I really did.

Sadie💘Caleb A Heartfelt & Emotional Story!

Another great “Heartbreaker Bay” novel, this one is Sadie and Caleb’s story. Sadie’s life has not been the easiest, she was misunderstood by her parents while growing up, it left her damaged and with insecurities. Yet she is determined to be her own person, works two jobs to make ends meet. Caleb is a successful businessman and a self-made millionaire. One stormy night Sadie hears a noise outside and sees Caleb trying to rescue an abandoned god, she goes to help him. This event starts off their relationship, they co-parent the rescued dog. I enjoyed their story, it was a lot deeper then previous books, there was no alpha males from Hunt investigations involvement in this story, just some scenes with their better halves and a bit of Spencer, who Caleb had worked with in the past. There were a few appearances by old man Eddie too. I enjoyed this books, Sadie’s past was heartbreaking, her need for cutting but I am glad she found the strength to get past it. Caleb was a patient man, glad he did not give up on her. I am looking forward to the next book in this series!

I listened to the Audible edition, Vivienne Leheny is a wonderful narrator and voice performer. She brings the characters to life with heart and emotion, gives each their own voice and personality. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thanks for another great listen🎧

Great book!

Jill Shalvis did it again! I enjoyed this book so much. Just like all the others I have read in the heartbreaker bay series.

fabulous book

I could of done without the details of the sex parts. maybe a little cleaner. The about broken couples was nicely done.

New resolution - don't stay with a story you can't

I thought perhaps it was because of my own mood, but I had to quit this story. I, like many others who left reviews, consider myself a Jill Shalvis fan. I am usually an Audible Book reader so narrators can affect my enjoyment of a book. I tried soeeding up the narration and it didn't help. The narrator's voice is flat and unemotional. It may have been on purpose to translate depression. I'm not sure. But it made the lack of connection with the characters even harder to take.
When I feel I am not making a connection with a book, I typically search for other reviews and sometimes I'll find encouragement to keep reading, meaning others had difficulty relating to the characters early on. But stick it out and find the story and chemistry will get better.
Unfortunately, I found that it's not just me.
If you are a fan, be warned this story deviates from the usual for Shalvis.
For me, it missed the mark very early on, and I'm sorry to say I will not be finishing it.
