Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

Classic Bunyan
Bunyan challenges the reader to examine their relationship with God by scripture and prose. Parts would be at home in a hymn book were it set to music. While captive in prison for his beliefs, John Bunyan pours out passionate pleas for repentance to those in captivity to sin in this compelling narrative.

Engaging
The narrator brings the reader into Bunyan’s subject. I am really glad there is an audio narration of this book, which is really helpful for the Christian to grow in his or her understanding of God, and thereby grow in his or her faith.

When you focus on the sun and not the bars, Pilgrim, there is no jail that will hold you. Read Bunyan before and did not understand until mercy was shown to me. The Narrator definitely keeps my ears engaged and understands what is being read.

An inside look at the theology that John Bunyan loved
This book is long overdue for our generation. While it has been around a while, my guess is that most are not nearly as familiar with it as they are John Bunyan’s famous Pilgrim’s Progress. This book serves as a kind of ‘The Making of Pilgrim’s Progress’ giving the reader/listener a glimpse into what made John Bunyan tick and from where he derived his extraordinary love of the telling of Christian’s journey to the celestial city. For it is the love of God and the love of theology that made Bunyan who he was and allowed the world to benefit from the writing of Pilgrim’s Progress. But this ‘behind the scenes’ look at the theology Bunyan loves is just as edifying for us to experience as modern readers. Truly devotional in parts, this study of God and man was not dry or cumbersome to listen to (especially through the voice of a truly incredible narrator, Steve Larsen) but rather, was ‘hard to put down’ as we often used to say when paper books were in vogue (still love those too!)
It is worth mentioning an additional note regarding the narrator. While he may be a new name on the audiobook scene, I hope we have much more to look forward to from Mr. Larsen. His reading of this book added to the devotional quality and with his easy-on-the-ears vocal quality, I believe I could listen to him read the phone book (do they still make those?). So enjoy this new ‘old’ book and may it be as edifying to you as it was to me.

Bunyan at His Best
For an uneducated tinker, John Bunyan knows how to write theology. His insights are carefully articulated in a way that would (and did in his own day) impress any theologian at the heights of academia, while at the same time presenting to us not a cold, detached subject but as the Puritans said a "felt Christ." Bunyan feels his theology, and this work is a remarkable example of that passionate knowledge.
When one considers that this was written locked away in a prison cell, with nothing but a Bible and Foxe's Book of Martyrs on hand, the writing is all the more astonishing. Here was a man who had internalized his theology and his love for the Lord. Not only is the work itself instructive, but so is its context. May we all love our God with a depth of heart like Bunyan's!
Steve Larsen's narration does an excellent job of reading this work in the way that one imagines Bunyan would want it read. A book like this cannot be read by a disinterested party, and thankfully our narrator is deeply interested in this work. Listener, enjoy!
