About this listen
Five years ago Joah was culled -- kidnapped by the government to be trained as a soldier. In the process, they erased his memory, destroying his past, his dreams, everything but his name. Armed with that alone, Joah escapes from the facility in search of someone to help him recall the man he used to be.
That person is Tobin, Joah’s husband, who never gave up hope of finding him again. He refuses to believe that the strength of his love alone won’t be enough to bring back Joah’s memories of their shared lives, and he’s determined to bring back the man beneath the soldier, the man he knows has to love him.
But an alarm in the chip blocking Joah’s memories was triggered at his escape, and if it isn’t removed soon, it will shriek his life away. Removing it won’t bring back his past, and may destroy the present that Tobin has tried so hard to build between them. How can the love they once shared possibly survive?

Love endures.
I loved listening to this story. The audio performance was excellent. The story captured and held my attention all the way through. Writing a story of this length, and having it tell such a complete one, isn’t something that all authors can do well; I think J.M. Snyder did a fantastic job and I will be looking for more of her work. I will also be looking for more audiobooks performed by Nick Johnson.

bittersweet dystopian romance
This story is short and sweet. Set in a dystopian world Joah has escaped his captors that culled so many men 5 years prior. Their lives and memory are stripped and they are made lethal soldiers. But Joah kept his name unknown to them and escaped.
He made it to a farm where a young man recognized him. But tgere is more to it than just leaving...
This story is sweet and swoonworthy but also bittersweet.
The narration was good. The narrator has a smooth voice and pacing good. I would have liked more distinctive voices but otherwise quite good.

Sweet & Heartbreaking
This story may be quick but was very interesting to read as well as listen to. Josh and Tobin's story is both heartbreaking and sweet. I appreciated the ending.
I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Heartbreaking and Sweet
a quick listen that pulls you in and definitely keeps you listening. For being such a short story it is complete and has depth and detail. My first listen of a J. M. Snyder book and I will happily look for more. Nick Johnson who is also new to me did a good job and brought a visual life to the story and itscharacters with his voice. The story of Josh and Tobin left a sweet ache at the end.
