About this listen

Stage Two of Initialization has begun. One week since System Initialization started and over 70% of the worlds population have been slain, groups of survivors are coming together and trying to rebuild civilization. Unfortunately, with Stage Two of Initialization, this will prove to be a daunting task. More complex monsters and beasts are rising, some forming more cohesive and dangerous tribes, unlike the simple goblins and kobolds we have seen so far. Some leaders let their greed rule them, some seek to rule with an iron fist, and the precious few individuals who manage to control a settlement must struggle against not just the threats outside, but human nature and the threats from within.

John and Rukia, his beloved dog, must continue their journey home through an increasingly dangerous world. He has the help of his three new companions. Magnus, the man he saved and fellow cultivator; Cody, the embodiment of what a man of faith should be; and Rowan, the Summoner and practitioner of magic. They must leave Utah and travel through Wyoming, dealing with Dungeons appearing in their path and creatures becoming more powerful, more complex and more dangerous. The party must keep up with the power curve if they are to survive.

Enjoyable

This book is an excellent continuation of this series that the listener will appreciate. If I had one pet peeve related to this book, the writer spends significant time leveling characters throughout this storyline. What I mean is that if you remove some of that information, you would probably lose two hours in the storyline. However, regardless of that, I hope people will listen to this series. It is worth the credit.

Good one!

The story keeps being entertaining and i did find it less cringe inducing than the first one but im not a fan of the epilogue, looks like the author is trying to change the whole story from apocalypse to something like DCC with the reality show thing and im considering just dropping the story here but will see. also if the MC doesn't get to his family soon, i get the feeling he is going to become unbearable

It’s just ok

The story telling feels slow. The story itself has a good foundation but I feel like something is missing 🤔

A fairly good story

I like the story in general. But, it could use an editor to fix many of the issues I spotted and the ones which I heard, but didn’t have the motivation to seek out in the kindle version while doing something else.

Also, I would have enjoyed it a lot more if they had used a different narrator. I don’t know if they just need more experience reading for effect or if they didn’t really care, but I often found myself thinking “that just isn’t how that sentence should be said! It just sounds wrong!” Does the author get to hear the full audio recording before it is released? Or do they have no say once the deal for an audiobook is signed?

Great book

Character progression went along smoothly. It leaves room for more advancement when he finally makes it to his family.

Returning this

As a reader I am paying for entertainment not to get lectures on such a controversial issue.

Which it what it feels like instead of a story.

Will not be purchasing any further books from this author.
