About this listen

Rodrick is a con man, as charming as he is cunning. Hrym is a talking sword of magical ice, with the soul and spells of an ancient dragon. Together the two travel the world parting the gullible from their gold and freezing their enemies in their tracks. But when the two get summoned to the mysterious island of Jalmeray by a king with genies and elementals at his command, they'll need all their wits and charm if they're going to escape with the greatest prize of all - their lives.

From Hugo Award winner Tim Pratt comes a tale of magic, assassination, monsters, and cheerful larceny, set in the award-winning world of the Pathfinder role-playing game.

Story great, don't like the reader.

I enjoy the Pathfinder Tales and the voices they used for Roderick and Hrim in Liars Blade was perfect. Steve West's performance leaves much to be desired.

Gold, treachery, and magical talking swords!

A solid little adventure set in the Pathfinder Role Playing world. You don't have to be a fan of the game to enjoy the tale of Rodrick and his sarcastic magic sword, Hrym. Great narration.

Good story, less than stellar narrator

Steve West is in no way a bad narrator I was throughly let down by him compared to narrator of liars blade other than that this is a fine tale

Change in Reader

I love this series and these characters. However the reader, while good, pales in comparison to capturing the main characters as the first book did. It took me a long time before I was able to settle in and just accept the fact that the reader sounds nothing like i felt the characters would.

Luckily for me I had gone through something similar with a previous series and was already used to the readers voice and cadence.

The story itself was great and gave a huge tale with many twists and turns that kept me guessing, but also feeling like I was there.

Solid Rogue Story

Really enjoyed this second story with the characters. Roderick being under skilled (or average) in combat and Rym so powerful is a great pair.

Never trust a knife in the dark!

This is the second Pathfinder story that I have listen to, and the second story involving Roderick and his amazing sword Hrym. I have read and listen to various books from the wizards of the coast forgotten realms and I must say that this is a refreshing change because of the amount of intrigue backstabbing and more authentic storyline that seem to parallel some of the role playing experiences that I've had.
The only issue I have, is that the narrator was to flat, and it was hard to distinguish between his portrayal of Roderick and Hrym.
