Learn to find and play the role God wants most for you to play, not the ones you feel pressured into playing for the sake of others or even our sense of accomplishment and worth. Most of us spend a lot of our lives figuring out when to say yes and when to say no. How to manage our time, reduce stress, do our best for our families, find a little space for "me". But we don't find space for our souls until we learn to step past the yes and no of daily decisions and seek a third option: the best yes. The best yes is the choice that shapes all our other choices.

This is your wake-up call to resist the Hustle culture and embrace the slowness of Jesus. Our culture makes constant demands of us: Do more. Accomplish more. Buy more. Post more. Be more. In following these demands, we have indeed become more: More anxious. More tired. More hurt. More depressed. More frantic. What we are doing isn't working! In a society where hustle is the expectation, busyness is the norm and information is king, we have forgotten the fundamentals that make us human, anchor our lives, and provide meaning.

I go through most days feeling broken and having thoughts of suicide. So, here's my book to you. I write about things in this book that made life easier, and at times, probably kept me alive.

Rachel used to be a mom who spent her days weary, anxious, and guilt laden. She had five kids in five years, lived on three different continents, and then was blindsided by a devastating health diagnosis. Neglecting her own physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional needs for so long—in an effort to be a selfless mother—had left her utterly depleted. And physically unwell. Then she began asking a question she’d never considered before: Could it be that taking good care of myself is not actually selfish, but maybe, just maybe, something a responsible adult does?

Loved this book
I loved how the authors opened up about their lives and shared practical advice on how to overcome “overwhelmed”. It made a big difference in my life. I didn’t really like the narration. It could be my half broke phone to be honest, but the voice sounded like Siri and not like a personal voice who really meant what they were reading. I’ve heard Kathi Lipp speak before and would have preferred her reading her own book.

The narrater was too breathy in her performance!
My goodness this was painful to get through. The narrater sounds so breathy and dramatic it was excruciating to get through. I kept stoping and starting because she was annoying me so much. The book has some good take aways. However, some of the suggestions are not feasible because of living situation or status. For example, How on earth would a single parent working two jobs barely making ends meet be able to pay for a maid or house keeper to maintain the home so their not “overwhelmed”. Yeah somethings are just not logical!
