About this listen

Jasper Quigley is tired of being everyone's favorite sidekick. He wants to become the hero of his own life, but that's not going to happen if he agrees to help out Milo Lionetti, his former best friend turned king of the jocks. High school was miserable enough, thanks, and Jasper has no interest in dredging up painful memories of his old secret crush.

But Milo's got nowhere else to go. His life is spiraling out of control, and he's looking to turn things back around. Step one? Replace the rare Odyssey cards he lost in an idiotic bet. Step two? Tell his ex-best-friend exactly how he feels - how he's always felt. Jasper may be reluctant to reopen old wounds, but he never could resist Milo.

There's a catch though: If Milo wants his help, he's going to have to pitch in to make the upcoming children's hospital charity ball the best ever. But as the two don cosplay for the kids and hunt for rare cards, nostalgia for their lost friendship may turn into something even more lasting....

Gaming, Reconnection, and Growth

I'm a firm believer in both underdogs and second chances. Out of Character scratches both of those itches and is in itself a double entendre hinting at the plot. I really enjoyed learning more about Jasper and Milo's story.

Another Great Outing

The story is sweet and people are complicated. I love the world of these characters and family built around something they love. Cars, cooking, games, love: there seems to room for many people. Listen to it or read it.

Great!

I love the voices of the book! They were just as good as they were in Conventionally Yours. The story was adorable and heartfelt as well. Kudos!

still unsure about this one

Honestly, Kirt Graves is terrible. I have no idea how he's gotten this far. Do people actually like his voice? Joel Froomkin wasn't much better with that accent of his, but I couldn't deal with Graves. I enjoy this author so I gave it a go, but honestly, Idk if I can do another story told by Graves. Like, I'm glad he's out there doing his thing, but it's not for me.

I’m the opposite of the last review

Joel froomkin ruined this book for me. His accents are horrible and the Asian characters accent is racist. The only reason I could finish this book was because kirt graves narrated every other chapter and gave me a break

Terrible Narrator

I can’t hear the story, the narration is so bad. And, mispronouncing Rs is not a Jersey accent, although the narrator thinks it is. I had to stop listening less than halfway through because the narration was so bad.

The narrator is unbearable.

I’m gonna give the book a shot but this guys voice is intolerable. A waist of a credit lol.
