About this listen

Out of Breath is the third book in the million-copy bestselling Breathing Series.

“My insides still burned. I considered what I could do to push the torment back into the dark and return to my numb state. I couldn’t do it on my own. I needed help. I was desperate.”

Emma Thomas is hiding. From everything and everyone...including herself. But she can’t hide forever. Her past will find her, and her secrets won’t remain quiet - not if she wants to be forgiven. Emma learns that honesty can hurt worse than betrayal, and the truth may cost her the only love she’s ever known.

The highly anticipated conclusion of The Breathing Series will have readers holding their breath until the last page.

Really good

This was a fairly good wrap up of the story of Evan and Emma. I felt I few things weren't entirely wrapped up, for instance the Jonathon thing, it felt rushed. But overall I really enjoyed it. I liked the flip between Evan and Emma's P.O.V in the span of a conversation. I liked that they started Emma off on the path to becoming her mother, that was a nice touch. It was a really sweet story and kept me invested the entire time. I also thought the narrator did a phenomenal job switching between playing Evan and then Emma. I was never confused on who's P.O.V I was in.

Add This to Your Favorites!

This is an emotionally charged series that follows a courageous young woman from high school through college. She finds strength in friendship and love becoming an amazing adult. The entire series is so well written and narrated. You'll get lost in the story and not want to stop listening.

I review for GUILTY INDULGENCE BOOK CLUB.

Five Star Entertainment

Would you consider the audio edition of Out of Breath to be better than the print version?

I loved this series from the first page of the first book to the last page of the third book. I spent much of this series crying but then I am more emotional than most people. I enjoyed the audio versons because if I had been reading I would have lost my place over and over due to my tears.

What other book might you compare Out of Breath to and why?

I would not compare this series to any other that I have ever read or heard because of the insight the author had about a sensitive subject. The characters were so well written that I felt a personal affinity with each and every one of them. Each book left me anxious to start the next one and the ending of this the last book in the series tued up all loose ends and made me feel comfortable about moving on to another book in another genre.

What about Kate Rudd’s performance did you like?

Kate Rudd did an excellent performance when portraying each character. It was easy to tell from her voice which character was speaking as the books are all written in the first person. This can be difficult to maintain for every character in a book but Kate Rudd made the transition seamlessly.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I had to take breaks from time to time due to the reality of my daily life and by the time I finished this one I realized I could not have listened to any one of them in one sitting due to the extreme emotions invoked.

Any additional comments?

At some point in time I will revisit these books and listen all over again. For me, the second time is sometimes better after I have listened to several other books in several different genres. These books are not for the soft hearted or for anyone other than mature adults. I loved them all!!

Finally No More cliffhangers! I love a good HEA!!

I hate cliffhangers but I can honestly say the wait was worth it. This series caused a roller coaster of emotions. So much tragedy & abuse Emma had to endure. She always ended up hurting the ones she loved by pushing them away. My heart hurt for Emma. In the end, when you think that this poor girl will always stay broken she finally decides not to give up. She chooses to breath especially with Evan at her side. He never gave up and together they found their way back to each other. I'm glad the book ended the way it did. To me it was simply perfect.

Fantastic Narrator

Would you consider the audio edition of Out of Breath to be better than the print version?

Did not read print

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sara, everyone needs a best friend like that. That will love you no matter what you've done.

What about Kate Rudd’s performance did you like?

Kate Rudd is AMAZING!! I actually had to check multiple times to see if there was a different narrator for Evan.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

When thinking of the series, this was not my favorite, so I couldn't say I wanted to listen all at once. There were some parts that I got very frustrated with. Almost too much drama if that's possible!

Any additional comments?

This series was great. It literally kept me up at night. I would wake up at 3 AM for whatever reason and I would start thinking about Emma and Evan... Wondering what would happen next and contemplating what had already happened in their lives. That's never happened to me before... And I am a 38 year old Twilight, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Black Dagger Brotherhood fan...

Trying to catch my breath

This is my first review ever.
First of all this series wrecked me and then restored me! The roller coaster of emotions that I experienced while listening to this amazing story still has my throat tight with tears and joy as I write this. The narrator was absolutely perfect in portraying the depth of emotion the characters felt throughout their struggles and triumphs. I definitely place this series in my top 5 (and I read A LOT)!
