It's no secret: Chris & Marissa are crazy HOT!!

This was my first Q.B. Tyler book and boy, was it HOT & SUUUUUPER SPICY!!

Narrators were Monique Ryerson (also new to me) and my fav, CONNOR CRAIS! In fact, he is the only reason I bought the book. Without him, this one wouldn't have been in my orbit! IF YOU ARE A FAN OF MR. CRAIS' WORK, THIS IS A MUST LISTEN!! His voice ... that wonderfully alluring voice w/ all of its GROWLY GOODNESS (yes, Daddy!) performing Chris & Marissa's sexy story is WOW!! Just Wow!!

As for the story ... Chris' marriage is clearly v. dysfunctional & has been for awhile. I didn't love the cheating, but it was more understandable given the situation. Chris said it took him a long time (w/ help from a therapist) to actually figure out that Holly (wife) didn't love him -- just his money! And he didn't file for divorce sooner because he hadn't reached his "breaking point". That is, until he realized how happy he could be after being with Marissa. The rest of the story took place over the course of a few years. I did like the way the last chapter ended and the epilogue was sweet.

The audio was in dual narration except for text msgs (duet). It did take me a bit to get used to Monique's voice, but after a few chapters, I liked her. The acting by both Monique and Connor was great. And overall, I really enjoyed it! (... My poor melted headphones ... not so much ... haha!)

I kept needing more!

QB has out done herself in this book!! Chris and Marissa story was beautiful put together! For it being an age gap it was really amazing!!

The narrators did a good job playing the characters and it was my first time listening to these narrators!! I would definitely recommend this book!!

What is better than a one night stand, then you end up at his workplace and find out he is married! and there is a 12 year age gap…
I really enjoyed this story between Marissa and Chris! Yes he was cheating on his wife but she was horrible…

Reviewing both the book and the audiobook, and Miss Q.B.!! What do you put in your stories?! I could not stop this one once I started it!! Chris and Marissa are melt your Kindle/AirPods HOT!!! And MESSSSSSYYYYY, I loved it! No one does forbidden/tab** quite like Q.B. Tyler, she is the queen!

For the audio, bless it! Connor Crais & Monique Ryerson were incredible as Chris and Marissa! Connor always has a way of pulling me into any audio he is doing, he is so expressive and just fantastic! Monique was phenomenal as Marissa! I fell in love with her voice and how she brought Marissa to life!

Chris and Marissa are the definition of a mess, I mean he is married, BUT once you get into the story & see his wife’s character & priorities, you'll get it. She is unpleasant, I'll leave it at that haha!

The chemistry between Chris and Marissa is ELECTRIC! That instant connection, "this is different", feelings for the other right away type of chemistry! Their journey to be together is a rollercoaster, a hot, steamy, messy, emotional, angsty rollercoaster, but it is worth the ride! I love them so much!!!

PS: The time jump in there about had my heart breaking!

Forbidden & full of steam 🥵

𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book took me by surprise. After hearing so much about this one, especially the audio performances, I dove head first and it did not disappoint. Yes, this is very much taboo & forbidden (*married man*) but this is such a complex story that takes a deeper look at love, commitment, betrayal, and happiness.

Chris & Marissa have the biggest uphill battles. After sleeping with Marissa at a mutual friend's wedding, he finds himself now her boss. They both haven't stopped thinking about their night but Marissa unwittingly slept with a married man. She has to come to terms with her situation. Chris decides it's time to leave his wife and marriage and starts this affair with Marissa under that he will be divorced but challenges arise, especially with Marissa working for him and the emotional toll it takes on both of them to have them starting & stopping their relationship over many years.

I really enjoyed the emotional layers for both Chris & Marissa. Their love blurs the lines of what is right and wrong. As their relationship progresses, it's clear that they both struggle with wanting to keep their connection but also wanting what is best for Marissa. She has the most to lose and Chris eventually is forced to see that.

There are things with Marissa's ease into the situation I wish were different, as well as the pacing towards the end as the story ties up how I'd hoped but wish we had a little more insight into some of the moments the timelines skip over.

From their first meeting, Chris & Marissa's chemistry and the tension between them is incredible. This story is filled with spice from the beginning and it adds to their connection in the best ways. It's hot, kinky, and everything I love in a workplace romance (hello office desk and I will never forget that taxi scene 🥵).

The performances by Connor Crais & Monique Ryerson is great. I do wish it was duet, I think that would've elevated the story a bit but they were both excellent.

I am now hooked on this world and will be going back to read the first two books in this interconnected series.
