About this listen

The true story of a teenage killer and the silence of a small New England town.

For 20 years Daniel Paquette's murder in New Hampshire went unsolved. It remained a secret between two high school friends until Eric Windhurst's arrest in 2005. What was revealed was a crime born of adolescent passion between Eric and Daniel's stepdaughter, Melanie - redefining the meaning of loyalty, justice, and revenge.

Many times i would stop listening because the narrator never changed her tone and my mind would wander. i wont be listening to any others she has narrated...and i only finished this book because 1. it was true crime and 2. because i grew up relatively close to where this occured.

Narrator is One Tone Sally!

well paced and gripping tale of adolescent friendship gone wrong. many twists and turns as the facts unfold. characters are revealed to be three dimensional and worthy of empathy; not just scorn.

The amount of characters in this book almost had me drawing out a family tree in order to keep up. The entire book was on the same case but the case number was repeated everyone they referred to the case. I got bored with it halfway through.

Alright book.

Great story specially if you’re familiar with upper New England New Hampshire. It’s just just entirely too long.

Good story. Too long.

This was my 1st time listening to a true crime book. I learned of this crime listening to a true crime podcast. There, of course, is a lot more information in the book, which I enjoyed.

My 1st Time

How many times do we have to listen to legally sufficient evidence of cruel stepfathers raping their stepdaughters from the age of 10 years old on? The legal system consistently ignores this horror. A 17 yo boy killed to protect his high school friend and is convicted as an adult while the vile pedophile family who likely was aware of his actions manipulates the court along with judge, prosecutor, and others. These evil men prey on the young again and again. A thoroughly unsatisfying book and shame on New Hampshire.

Disgusting story of raping 10 yo girls
