Acerca de esta escucha

From the acclaimed author of JFK and Vietnam comes a book that uncovers the government's role in the Kennedy assassination more clearly than any previous inquiry. What was the extent of the CIA's involvement with Lee Harvey Oswald? Why was Oswald's file tampered with before the assassination of John F. Kennedy? And why did significant documents from that file mysteriously disappear? Oswald and the CIA answers these questions, not with theories, but with information from the primary sources themselves - ex-agents, officials, and secret records. To look at the Oswald file is to look at the most sensitive CIA operation of the Cold War. The story is as alarming as it is tragic; the lies and manipulations it reveals led directly to Kennedy's murder. Oswald and the CIA is a gripping journey to the darkest corners of the CIA.

Reseñas editoriales

Tom Weiner delivers a commanding performance of retired army officer and professor John Newman’s nonfiction audiobook Oswald and the CIA, a meticulous examination into the government’s role in President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. His powerful voice gives weight to the allegations that the CIA tampered with Lee Harvey Oswald’s file - removing key documents - prior to the killing. Newman cites primary sources such as ex-agents and secret records to back up his claims, and takes listeners into the clandestine inner workings of the CIA.

Difficult to follow on some levels. For example, CIA internal documents and file case numbers.

Oswald, a CIA operative ?

Great book! Lots of information contained within, so it isn't for the casual reader. For those who are truly interested in the details of the assassination of JFK and the plethora of hidden facts associated with that historical event, this book is an answer to a million questions about the backstory of the alleged assassin.

Real Research and No Theory!!

Very good study but probably too detailed for the average reader. The last quarter of the book is really where the book comes alive. Before that, the author takes a lot of benign stuff and attributes conspiratorial relevance to them where really none exists.

Very detailed study

Well written and explained the released documents very well. Well done in explaining Oswald life too! To go through that amount of documents is mind blowing and so much appreciated… this book covers facts

Great info!!!!

Mandatory reading for anyone interested in the JFK case. Hopefully an author like Newman will give us a fresh look at new developments since this book was published.

Fundamental if outdated

A very simple explanation of why the CIA had more knowledge of Oswald than they said, which speaks for itself. I don’t understand why John Newman isn’t more well known, or why his newest books about JFK aren’t being touted by every major publication.

Great book

The CIA and FBI were very much aware of Oswald before November 1963.

That sums the book up and all you will really gain out of it. I hoping for so much more. Lots of facts and research. But far too many words.

Very Dry

I honestly can’t believe I finished this. Author warns you in the beginning that this book is about “Oswald the file”.
Its a tough listen, as it can go on for 30 minutes or more talking about one file or document or leaflet. It becomes very hard to follow. I would perk up at an interesting point only to be lulled again by more file numbers.
I didn’t give this a 1 star since there are a few interesting historical points and it was read well, but I’d suggest spending 17 hours listening to something else.

Too many documents.
