About this listen

The Orion has fallen.

After barely escaping with their lives, the crew of the Orion has scattered across an unknown world. With a diminishing hope of returning home, they have no choice but to band together.

But between the local wildlife, lack of supplies, a missing crew, and a strange, ominous door that can't be opened, Dean and his new friends will need everything at their disposal to survive.

This isn't the home they expected, but they didn't come this far to give up and die.

Explore a strange new world and fight for the future in this second entry to The Orion Colony series. If you're a fan of Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, or Indiana Jones, you'll love this epic space-opera adventure.

Win win series!!

Just finished this book. 2nd in the series. Now starting the 3rd.
As always, Ray Porter enhances any book he narrates. But when you have a great series with fascinating characters, he totally rocks it!
Dean is awesome. I liked him from the start. His character is strong, sincere, determined and an all around fascinating guy. The story has some intense moments that brings you totally absorbed into it.
Never a dull moment.

Yanez and Chaney are a great team!! And with Porter narrating for them!! A win win all around!!

The story continues

So far this series is turning out to be just as good as J.N. Chaney's others.

another great story

As always, Chaney delivers. If you're this far in the series, you probably know how good it is. Keep going and read on! The books just get better and better.

Great story, books too short.

I've liked the overall story so far, it's got a good ratio of humans being humans to new planet being hostile. my only complaint is that the series could have been merged into a single book. Each one is short and definitely not a good value at full price. if not for books 1 and 2 having been daily deals or sale purchases I would have never listened to them as I generally avoid short books.

Cliffhanger!!

That was a major cliffhanger ending! The first 2 books ended in such a way that you knew the author was trying to get you to buy the next in the series, but weren't quite this obvious. This ending...! Ugh. Also wonder what happened to Ricky's accent the last chapter of the book? Still a really good series though.

Entertaining Space Opera

It has what you'd expect from a space opera, a crew of a ship crash landing onto a foreign planet due to sabotage and now they must figure out the mysteries and dangers of this strange, but an inhabitable new world.

I agree it would be nice if the books had more closure, not forcing the reader to have to move along to the next book in the series in order to figure out what happens. But most books do this, right? At least those written with a series theme in mind. Anyway, the writing is suited to my liking in terms of banter, humor, danger, etc. Sure, we have to suspend disbelief with all of the action, but most sci-fi is like that. And I love Ray Porter's narration. He is one of my favorites and my initial reason why I got into this space opera series in the first place.

Moving along to the next book.

Great series..

I love this series. The characters are wonderful and so brave. Dean Slade is an awesome hero.

No romance and no swearing.

As for the narration: You don't get any better than Ray Porter.
