About this listen

From New York Times bestselling author Randy Wayne White, after the deadliest hurricane to hit Florida’s Gulf Coast in a century, Doc Ford must stop a gang of thieves—and worse—during the twelve hours of chaos that follow the passing of a storm’s eye.

A Russian diplomat disappears while Doc is tagging great white sharks in South Africa, and members of a criminal brotherhood, Bratva, don’t think it’s a coincidence. They track the biologist to Dinkin’s Bay Marina on the west coast of Florida, where Brotherhood mercenaries have already deployed, prepared to pillage and kill in the wake of an approaching hurricane.

No one, however, is prepared for a cataclysmic event that will forever change the island and leaves Doc to deal with escapees from Russia’s most dangerous prison, including a serial killer—the Vulture Monk—who has a taste for blood. His only ally is an enigmatic British inventor whose decision to ride out the storm might have more to do with revenge than protecting a priceless art collection.

Doc has a lot at stake—the lives of his fiancée, Hannah Smith, and their son, plus the fate of his hipster pal, Tomlinson, whose sailboat has disappeared in the Gulf of Mexico. The greatest threat of all, though, is a force that cannot be escaped—a Category Five hurricane that, minute by minute, melds sins of the past with Florida's precarious future.

Suspenseful!

Kept you on the edge of your seat! We had to sit in the truck just to listen to it.

Effect of Cat 5 Hurricane.

Interesting to hear about the details of living thru a Cat 5 hurricane.
Also the prep and after how a lot of the prep was wasted.
The story of the international criminals is disturbing.

Not outstanding

After 27 books, they seem the same. Even the mystery that remains at the end wasn’t surprising

Fun read-lived thru this storm! Accurate, and entertaining.

Historical references, accuracy in relation to Hurricane Ian, nice twist for Doc Ford’s usual motivations.

Good story- Poor Narration

Next time I’ll be sure NOT to listen to the audio version of RWW novels- because the narration is much too choppy, hesitant and flat.
Missed having Tomlinson’s character in the actual storyline (he was only mentioned).
The story was good, however, and I look forward to the next novel- which I’ll READ.

Poor Doc

Great listen. The inclusion of “Ian” vs. Sanibel in the storyline hooked me immediately. Hate that ole Doc and Hannah can’t close the deal. Thought there for a moment it might happen.

Love Doc Ford!!

All of his stories are great!! And it doesn't hurt that George Guidall is the Narrator. He is a great storyteller. He just makes a great story better. Many thanks!!

George is always the best

Perhaps a bit too graphic in places. The ending was a great surprise but a little disappointing
