Acerca de esta escucha

Do no harm. Take no sh*t. Whether you're a new nurse or a veteran member of the clan, the nursing learning curve is a vast one. Part how-to guide with a touch of memoir thrown in, take the time to laugh and cry with an author who says what everyone else in the field is thinking.

Loved it. Listened in one sitting bc I couldn't push stop to go to bed. But, I'm a noc nurse, so that's pretty normal to stay up well past 3am anyway. Smiles almost the whole way through. Except when crying, because I've either been there or know my time for it is coming. You hit on every point. Why I became a nurse. Why I'm proud to be a nurse. All my non nurse friends and family members who give "that look" where in the middle of your story you realize you just ruined one of the 3 meals you get to eat with them that month, so you stop talking (and it sucks bc you haven't even gotten to the gross/funny part yet). All of it.

I am finding this book during week 3 of the quarantine and I am the only family member who has left my house in almost a month. I was starting to feel guilty that I "get" to leave the house. But I really appreciate that you are reminding me of the gratitude I feel that I GET to be a nurse, period. Thank you for writing this book and sharing your feelings. You are not alone.

She seems authentic but it was kind of a mediocre take on nursing.... nothing not obvious or unknown

I loved this book! She does such an amazing job of capturing the emotions and experiences of our career as nurses! Even though I am not a baby nurse, it made me appreciate my profession all over again. I love nursing and it truly is a calling! Thanks Sonja for putting your heart into your career and sharing your journey with all of us for inspiration and encouragement!

best true to life story!

I’ve been laughing since the beginning. I’ve been a Nurse for 35 years with the last 26 years as a NICU and PICU Nurse. I’ll never be a “former Nurse.” Just like a Marine. Once a Marine always a Marine. I’ve had so many flashback moments as I listened to this book. Sonja has made this book a book of flashback moments as well as reminders of my newbie Nurse days. Thank you for reminding people exactly what we do. I say as a calling and not just a job. There are nurses who only do it for a paycheck and thankfully they usually fizzle out and leave for other jobs. You must love this job because I know of no other job that someone can be pee

Still laughing

I appreciated the writer and narrator were the same. Down to earth and interesting chapters. Good read for the “baby” nurse with practical insight.

Insightful

I loved this book! It brought me right back to when I graduated. I just wish that something like this was around 10 years ago. I enjoyed listening to this book and realized I wasn’t being overly sensitive to the nurse bullying I experienced. The author’s story of her mother brought me to tears because I am going through the same thing now. I thank god everyday for the coworkers/2nd family I have met through being a nurse.

Where was this when I graduated

I found Sonja’s story engaging and well written and nicely narrated. I could have done without the G-damns, but otherwise enjoyed the listen and would recommend it for anybody considering nursing as a career.
