Obsession of The Heart

Obession of the heart has international travel stars and vengeance. This was an ok read I liked that there were different places and times. It got a little confusing with all the different POVs and the accents were really thick but ok.

Not my cup of tee

I received this audiobook for free from the author/narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.
The story seemed more biography of people rather than the novel.
The narrator was good with male/female voices, she is great with an accent. However, her voice lacks emotions and was monotonic.

Another great book from this author!

Obsession of the Heart is the second book in a trilogy. Personally, I love a continuing story with multiple generations, and this fits the bill. There is drama, suspense and romance…what else could you ask for? I also liked that it was read by the author who does a good job with all the accents. This is a must read!

Liked this book better

I listened to Peace of Music prior to this book. Personally, I found this one more cohesive, and a better story. The story’s premise was good, and I enjoyed the intrigue. However, I found the characters in this book were also quite idealistic. All are “beautiful” but, I did connect more with these characters.

There are almost two main story threads. There is a horrible event that befalls the main character Davina and a few of her friends. The story before, and then the story after this event have Davina’s life going in different directions, each with their own series of ups and downs. It is after this event that Divina becomes an international singer, meets Jean, and life becomes even more precarious.

Denise did a good job narrating this book. She does several accents and her male voices are good. If I recall correctly, she used the same voice for a few male characters, however, it did not disrupt the listening. The audio quality of this book is not so great.

There is some swearing and domestic violence but it’s just based around one character and not excessive. I don’t recall if there were any sex scenes, but, if there was they were not overly explicit.

Action-packed intrigue

This is a far-reaching novel which takes the reader on quite a ride, visiting several different countries. The reader becomes immersed in the cultures of these countries and the story develops. There is non-stop action, much emotion. I actually found all the action a bit overwhelming, but if that is something you like, then I recommend this book.

I listened to the audio version which is narrated b the author. She does a fine job with all the characters, but I was particularly impressed with how she managed all the different male characters.

This is the second book in a series, but they can all be read independently of one another.
