I Can’t Believe I Made It To The End…ughhhh

This story lacks a lot… but has such potential which is why I stuck it out with hopes of a payoff. Spoiler, it never comes.
My advice is if you decide to listen to this, make it a drinking game every time the word “said” is used, you’ll be trashed in no time for a week straight!
The word “said” was obviously a conscious stylistic decision on the author’s part, it didn’t work.

kind of a weird turn

It was so good for a while, but once you get closer to the end the story takes a weird turn, that I was hoping it wouldn't. the prlerformance was good, but there were times that I think the inflection was misleading. Overall it was a alright book, but man that last minute turn really ruined it for me.

The narrator was great. I didn’t want the story to end. The characters were so relatable.

The way the narrator reads the “…said” ruins the entire book. I couldn’t finish it

Too dark for me

Beautifully written but so enduringly sad. It was uncomfortable being in the depression and hurt for so much of the novel.

Good read

Good story line making listening enjoyable. Would have been nice to have different voices rather than just one.

Never Judge a Book By Its Narrator

I both read and listen to the books I’m reading, depending on what I’m doing at the moment. I know most people don’t or can’t do that, but the one thing I’ve discovered from doing this is how much a narrator can make or break the experience of the story. I personally didn’t have an issue with this narrator as others have, but I’ve loathed others. It’s unfortunate because it can negatively impact the impression a story leaves on you. This story was heartfelt, sad, and fairly accurate depicting the way a family comes undone after the loss of a child, and how it effects family members on a spectrum of behavior and emotions.

Narrator was excellent

Great story with raw emotions from the narrator . Couldn’t put it down and quit thinking about it.

Interesting protagonist view

A bit maudlin but interesting in the voice of the book. Reader is just the right tone.

Solid read

This story has it all - tears, triumph, and humanity. I didn’t know how the story would end up, but I did enjoy the ending.
