She wants to uncover the past. He wishes to build a future. In this Regency romance set in rolling hills of West Sussex, two opposing wills discover their fate may lie in the common ground.

Miss Bridget Littleton’s passion for history and antiquities defies most social conventions, even in her small village nestled in the beautiful English countryside. When a local farmer discovers an elaborate mosaic buried in his field, Bridget dreams of making a name and future for herself by excavating the Roman ruins. Unfortunately, her quest puts her at odds with the ambitious new lord who recently inherited the title and Hawthorn Abbey from his estranged uncle.

Recovering from wounds of both body and spirit, Captain Rafe Hawthorn is intent on restoring his long-neglected ancestral home. His plans to rebuild the abbey’s once thriving orchards require a road that will pass straight through Bridget’s potential trove of artifacts. He will not―cannot―fail again, even if he is moved by Bridget and her passion.

Yet this impasse might not be their greatest obstacle. A natural disaster and a series of suspicious accidents threaten both their plans, along with the livelihood of the nearby villagers dependent on their success. With their dreams in the balance, Bridget and Rafe must work together to fend off an unexpected enemy that may prove more dangerous than either could have imagined.

Enemies to lovers is my least favorite trope so I, personally, would give this story 3 stars for my own mental catalog. However, I have given it 4 stars here because it’s well written and I enjoyed the archeological aspects. That’s not a path many authors take so it’s always fun when it’s done well. The characters are likeable, the banter is pretty good, and there was enough mystery to keep me from entirely predicting the twist at the end. Speaking of the end, it did feel a little chaotic but overall everything comes together nicely. And I do love a fulfilling epilogue.

The narrator did a fantastic job bringing the story to life!

Archaeology + romance = fun

No Stone Unturned is a brilliant new Regency filled with mystery, romance, & faith. In this atmospheric tale, secrets abound when ancient Roman mosaics & artifacts are uncovered on a farmer’s property by the vicar’s daughter. But, when the new viscount of the neighboring property arrives & claims the property is his, a dispute ensues which leads to treasure hunters & lives put in danger as ancient secrets long buried are unearthed.

Miss Bridget Littleton’s passion for history exceeds all bounds of a proper young lady. When Roman ruins are discovered on a nearby farm, she uses her knowledge to begin excavating the site. Longing to be recognized for her discovery & intelligence & hoping to save her friend’s farm, she writes to two historical societies hoping they’ll fund an excavation.

Captain Rafe Hawthorn has returned to the one place he never wanted to see again. After his uncle’s death & a painful injury, he’s forced to accept his position as the new viscount. The estate though is in shambles & in desperate need of restoration. His steward insists that the newly discovered Roman ruins are actually on his property. As he tries to uncover the truth, he has a feisty, free spirited vicar’s daughter to contend with. But, the more he’s around her, the more he’s drawn to her. When her life is threatened & one of the precious mosaics is stolen, he must find the culprits before it’s too late.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! I loved the atmospheric, gothic feel to it. Rafe’s & Bridget’s enemies to lovers slow burn romance captured my imagination from the beginning. I loved Bridget’s spunk & determination. Rafe is a brooding, wounded hero who’s troubled by his past & the secrets of his childhood. Both struggle with faith & I loved seeing their perspectives change as their love grows & they make peace with the past.

The thrilling conclusion had me on the edge of my seat & I can’t wait to read more by this author. Highly recommend! I listened to the audiobook & thoroughly enjoyed the narrator. She did a fantastic job voice both male & female characters. I appreciated the emotion & feeling she put into the performance to really bring this story to life.

Loved the audiobook of this fabulous Regency!
