About this listen

No One I Knew is the compulsive new psychological thriller by A J McDine.

Praying her daughter’s still alive. Fearing her past is about to take its revenge. When three-year-old Immy vanishes during a family barbecue, her mother, Cleo, imagines the worst. Has she fallen into the river at the end of the garden and drowned? Or is it something even more unthinkable? After all, there's one person with good reason to want to abduct Immy - the woman Cleo thought she’d seen the last of three years ago. With time running out, Cleo sets out to uncover the truth. But as she confronts the demons of her past, it becomes clear everyone has a secret to hide. And the more she digs, the more she realises her carefully constructed life is just an illusion.

Really enjoyed this book! Especially because this was the part of Kent where I grew up. My mother actually owned Littlebourne House in Littlebourne during the late 60s and the River Stour passed through our garden in the back.

Loved it!

*Spoiler alert *
The story has some good twist and turns. BUT when the protagonist asked the killer for her cell phone so she could call the police and then proceeded to ask the killer for some tea, I started laughing.. did she really think that a killer would let her call the cops on her and then make her a cup of camomile?

Another frustrating female protagonist

The narration was excellent, and the story kept me wondering. The “bad guy” was a real surprise to me.

Kept me reading way too late at night!

Great story. Unexpected twist which I liked. Looking for more from this author after this book. Well done.

Kept my attention

It was great almost read it twice so twisty and clever. Kids hurt or missing does bother me a bit so not my favorite storyline but this one was good!

The narrator sounds like Kate winslet

The book was good, not all of it came from first person, and the narration was fantastic. If I could listen to her voice every single day to every book I heard I would listen to a lot more books! The story was great too.

The narrator is perfect!

The main character was so flawed with her inability to see facts around her! She lost in fairytale land most of the time ! She never worked with police nor was honest with them that it caused death of others! Disappointed in ending!

Really?

I was riveted by the story and blew through this story, I had to know how it ended! Great job building characters and instantly getting you into the story .

Not predictable

She never made a rational good decision. These writers really annoys me. And how the hell can she be so nice to the woman having an affair with her husband for years 🤦‍♀️

OH COME ON! The everyday no common sense

This was an interesting story, but the number of clues the protagonist just ignored or explained away was mind numbing. A good story leaves you surprised, not waiting for the protagonist to catch up. Especially when she prides herself on being intuitive and clever. She could literally be hit over the head with the clue and still not get it.

The narrator did a great job. So five stars for her.

The protagonist was frustratingly clueless
