About this listen

How far would you go to right a wrong?

For Michael Sykora, killing started as blind rage. Then it became something he's good at. To most of those who know him, Michael is a software designer, a smart but average guy with a workaholic nature. To a chosen few, Michael is a part-time hit man whose specialty is eliminating hard-core criminals.

Michael has managed to keep his two personas separate. Until now. When Nicki, a close friend, gets into trouble, Michael steps in to help. Having lost his fiance to a brutal crime, Michael will do whatever necessary to keep from losing another woman in his life.

Don't know how I missed this one!

Any additional comments?

This book reminds me somewhat of a cross between the "In the Company of Killers" series by J A Redmirski and the early "Victor the Assassin" by Tom Woods.
This book really doesn't give the origins of the protagonist's (Michael Sykora) psych on becoming a killer with a code of ethics. Seems wealthy people pay him lots of money to avenge themselves or the ones they love who have had crimes committed against them (such as rape) and they know the justice system will fall short.
In this book a former flame who is also an ex-prostitute calls Michael because her life is being threatened. She's cleaned up her act, gone to college and now helps other women get off the street or out of abusive situations. The whole thing snowballs and it becomes a kill or be killed. I don't have to say who the winner is because there are 2 more books in the series so far.
The narrator, Eric Medler did a fantastic job.
This was a quick (Too Quick!) enjoyable listen.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

My third vigilante novel in two weeks

Actually, No Justice is very different from the two Robert Bidinatto novels (Hunter and Bad Deeds). It's a lot lighter and sort of fun, and unlike Hunter Michael Sykora sometimes kills for money. But mostly Michael Sykora kills bad guys who need killing whether he's paid or not. Killing criminals is a sideline he started after his fiance was murdered. Sykora is ...audacious! In his kills.

I enjoyed No Justice and look forward to listening to the other two books in the series. The audiobook is nicely narrated. I've read other Darcia Helle novels in ebook format in the past and she never disappoints. The first novel by Helle that I read was Hit List. It is memorable!

A dreadful novel made tolerable by the narrator

We are presented a novel that offers a plot so unbelievably stupid as to offend an intelligent reader. The prose is at the point of being offensive. To me it is amazing the author was able to get this novel published. i did in fact read the entire book, and therefore I will not return it. The best I can do is to help those not to follow in my footsteps by spending a credit much less money on this thing.

I will say however that the narrator was excellent. When I am done with this review, I am going to check out his other books. With his skills combined with a decent writer, I might find a gem. This is not it.
