About this listen

It's New Year's Eve. A major terrorist cell is planning a series of attacks across London over the next 48 hours. The government has surveillance on the group, a man undercover, and prepare to move in, to take out the terrorists before they can strike. But they lose contact with their inside man. And the cell vanishes into thin air, dispersing into the streets, armed and intent on completing their assault on London. The best counterterrorist teams in the country are told to take them down before it's too late.

Nine terrorists. Nine lives. The Armed Response Unit is one of these teams. Efficient and ruthless, the task force is ordered to locate the leader of the cell. As they hunt him down, they begin to realize that this is far bigger than any of them could ever have imagined. Bombings, rocket attacks, betrayal, and a series of unexpected and shocking twists leave the ARU fighting to stay alive.

Sam Archer, the youngest member of the team, is keen to prove himself and justify his spot on the task force. With crowds all over London celebrating the New Year, and with nine terrorists somewhere among them, the Armed Response Unit is faced with the most dangerous night of their lives. As the savage, shocking plans of the enemy are fully revealed, the ARU officers are faced with the ultimate question: How many times can a man cheat death before death evens the score?

A real page-turner

It was a riveting story - a real page-turner - and the characters were flawed and interesting. The grammatical errors were disappointing though; without them I would have given the book five stars. Because of them, I am really at a 3.5.

I cannot wait to read the next book!!

loved this book, I started the series on book 3 and it was so good that I grabbed book one, and was not disappointed! great story, characters that were well developed and believable, very good narration as well. If you like an edgy thriller, this is a good book to try. Terrorists in London, all sorts of twists, other countries involved, counterterrorism and other police agencies involved, this book will keep you reading/listening to the very end!!! I am writing this now and finally going to bed at 1:30 am...I have to get up at 6, but needed to find out what happened...it is that good!

Reads like a good beginning for a series

This narrator was new to me but Mr. Sackville was a good choice for all the different characters.
I enjoyed the story so much that I found it hard to stop when I had other pressing issues to see to.
I am looking forward to book number 2.

Not for me

Yes the action started right off. Unfortunately, I was able to put it down for two months and did not feel the need to finish the novel.
