About this listen

Soulless eyes of children stare into yours, opening the gateway to hell....

Months have passed since the Malpas Massacre, and the media is in the midst of a feeding frenzy. Reporters and law enforcement are certain the murders can be traced to a cold-blooded serial killer. But those who have survived the carnage know the truth all too well. As the victims become suspects, they find themselves in a race against time to clear their names.

Meanwhile, the peaceful town of Machen is hiding secrets darker than the eerie forest surrounding it. Vulnerable and wide-eyed children roam, pleading for help. Yet, behind their innocent facade lies a resurrected evil with an insatiable thirst for blood.

Led by Doctor Zoffany and Ted Gould, the Ramola Foundation won't let that happen. They're certain their extensive tests on Machen's supernatural forces will lead them to much-needed answers. At the heart of it all is Denny Purcell, who slowly discovers her intuition is more powerful than she could have ever imagined.

As the night fills with predators, the mists of Machen lift to unveil hideous truths about its past. The whole town is on edge, and residents must face the violent souls who crave death and destruction.

The quiet town will quickly learn that some secrets are better left untold....

Interesting and creative

The Nightmare series continues as Denny investigates the small town of Machen. Long story short, some children went missing but they turned up again and are now acting different than before. Denny finds out more info on the Interlopers and also finds a strange amulet that seems to be a good luck charm or talisman. Back at the Ramola Foundation, they use their own methods to learn more about the Interlopers through Lucy.

That may not sound all that interesting but it was! While the book wasn't creepy/freaky like the first one was (it's hard to be creeped out by the Interlopers in a second book because you got more or less used to them in the first book), it was very interesting. We learned more about the Interlopers and I started to feel bad for them. Call me crazy, but I felt bad for the brutal murderers. Maybe you will too when you read the book or maybe not.

I'm really looking forward to book 3 and finding out what David Longhorn has in store for us there. I'm hoping a kind of peace can be managed.

Good Suspenseful horror

This is continuation of the Malpas Abbey in the town of Machen and the woods with the interlopers. I enjoyed the characters of Ted Gould, Denny, and Dr Wakefield. There are a few new characters as well in this book Lucy is actually an interloper as well as Isobel. Loved it when they went thru the gate .This book was suspenseful, scary, creepy and thrilling, look forward to next book. Recommend to anyone who enjoys Ron Ripley, AI Nasser or any horror/supernatural books. I was given this free review copy audiobook by Scare Street and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU

Engrossing!

I was pleasantly surprised when I listened to book 1 of this series because it was better than I expected, and because of that I went into this one with high expectations, and I'm thrilled because this one was even better than the first!

The plot of this one shows us more about the Interlopers and the world they have come from. They are smart, cunning and incredibly strong and it was great to get more information on them. The plot was also fast paced and really exciting. I was listening to this as often as I could to see what would happen next. It's the kind of plot that takes a bit of concentration because there's a lot going on, but it was fascinating and entertaining. I'm eager to see what the Interlopers world brings us next!

We meet some new and interesting characters as well as finding out about some of the ones from book 1. I'm intrigued to see about the agency and what exactly their goal is!!

In all, this was a great read! It's not a stand alone so you will have to read the first to truly understand the overall plot. I can't wait for the third and final book in the trilogy to come to audio!!

Once again, Thom Bowers breathes life into this authors story. He is quickly becoming a favourite narrator of mine! He is easy to listen to and has an array of tones and voices for each character.

I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.

Well Written Story

This is book number 2, it could be a stand alone book. You have a well written story with an original plot, well defined characters with good narration. Book number 2 is more interesting than book one and keeps your interest. You have Thom Bowers with narration and he always makes the story interesting with his voices for characters and the excitement he puts into the book. You have Denny continued into the book as she investigates the small town of Machen. Denny is getting more information on the interlopers as she finds an amulet as she feels is a good luck charm. You find out a lot on the interlopers and you at times feel sorry for them. Denny is sure there is more to the story, children are now disappearing. Then they children come back. You just have to read this book to see how it goes. I enjoyed this book.
