Acerca de esta escucha

Students of biblical Greek will learn all New Testament Greek vocabulary words that occur 10 times or more in the New Testament by interacting with this audio product. Jonathan Pennington speaks all New Testament Greek words in descending order of frequency. Different tracks enable students to concentrate on different word groupings. After each citation is an opportunity for the user to give the gloss meaning of the word; then Pennington gives the gloss, confirming whether or not the user had it correctly.

This book comes very handy if you want to learn ancient greek on the go. The only negative thing about it is the american pronounciation of some words. As I am not a native US english speaker I was very surprised how the letter alpha and the letter omikron become essentially the same. Both Λόγος and τόπος are essentially pronounced "lagas" and "tapas". In words with both alpha and omikron, such as ἀπό or αὐτός, the two sounds are indistinguishable to my ear, becoming "apa" and "autas".

Other than this, I highly recommend this as a supplement for greek studies.

Very useful, issues with pronounciation

I'm learning biblical Greek, so this helped. It's just a guy reading words in Greek and then saying the English word. Nothing more.

great study tool

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Any additional comments?

If you were taught Erasmian pronunciation as I was, this is very difficult to use. I cannot determine what the spelling is from the phonetic sound used and so have to think of all the possibilities on the fly. Not a good solution for listening while driving.

Warning about pronunciation

This audio book is most effective for learning to pronounce Greek words according to the North American standard. Pennington is very careful in his pronunciations.

However, even thirty minutes of listening to vocabulary can be taxing on the brain, but it beats trying to read flash cards while driving!

Be sure to download the companion booklet for the spelling of these words.

Helpful but tedious

This is an excellent way to learn the ancient Greek language and I think it will be great for furthering your understanding of the New Testament.
