Neville Goddards message

I have listened to all that I could find on Neville Goddard, and if he referenced others in his writings, I tried to find their messages and listen to them as well.

My conclusion is this... Neville claims to have been sent by God to declare a message of truth that does not fit the traditional narrative taught by today's theologians. This was my first conflict with the message that Neville declares that "God and man are one". Of course, this is the same thing Jesus said, yet my view of Jesus was that He was the son of God, not the Father, but the son. This was the teachings that I accepted from childhood and really did not question these teachings until I was met with extreme frustration regarding Christianity as a religion, and Christian behavior as a whole.

My second conflict with his message, Neville claims that the imagination of man is actually God's power and wisdom given to all men. Man's imagination is Christ, called by the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 24, "Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God." Of course, this did not fit my teachings as a child, and my mother, the daughter of a minister, taught me what she was taught.

When I say that I read all that I could find that Neville wrote or spoke on, most of it I have listened to more than 5 or 6 times, in order to make sure that I understood what Neville was saying.

Reading Neville's work opened my eyes to several truths, and with constant prayer and testing my imagination as Paul said, "Know ye not that Jesus Christ is in you? Test yourself, examine yourself and see." This testing led to personal verification of what Neville has encouraged his readers to do. I was also able to let go of all self-condemnation and feelings that God was punishing me for not being perfect in keeping his word.

If a seeker wants to know the truth, read everything Neville has written. Of course, you must be very familiar with the Bible already in order to follow the scriptures that he outlines and references. If you don't know the Bible, you will be taking another man's word without verifying the message of scripture for yourself.

I have an entirely different concept of God, man, and the Bible message to man that does not fit the traditional narrative in which Jesus said, "Beware of the traditions of men". I understand why now. Christ, God's power and wisdom, is in every man and can be used to cushion the blows of life. Belief, therefore, is a bridge to experiencing Christ within, or a barrier that results in bondage to traditional teachings. Only the individual can establish his own beliefs, and concepts of God, and live according to what he has purposefully defined by testing himself daily to see is 'he is n the faith."

If you don't want to be transformed in your thinking, I suggest that you leave this message alone. It will not be comfortable, and you will be challenged to the core. However, if the truth is what you MUST have, read everything you can find that Neville wrote, but make sure you start with the Bible first. Then, things will begin to make sense.

Love Neville, Poorly Organized

The individual lectures in each volume are simply laid out as chapter 1, chapter 2, etc. You have no way of intelligently selecting a specific lecture that you want to listen to. It does this amazing anthology a disservice!! So sad!
