Publisher's summary

In this Regency rom-com, when a Duke and a reporter team up to uncover his family’s secrets, their search brings up more than they bargained for—including their feelings for each other.

Diana Merriwell and Giles Sinclair only tolerate one another for the sake of their nearest and dearest. Everyone believes that the two of them are meant to be together, but Diana and Giles know that their constant pithy barbs come from a shared disdain—not a hidden attraction. Diana loves the freedom of working at the newspaper too much to give it up for marriage, and Giles is happily married to his bachelor lifestyle. But they do have one thing in common—the secrets they can’t risk escaping.

When Giles’ father, the curmudgeonly Duke of Harpenden unexpectedly turns up his toes, it’s only a matter of time before someone comes crawling out of the woodwork who knows the true circumstances of his only son's birth. As the threat of blackmail becomes real, Giles must uncover the truth of his parentage first, or else he and all those who depend upon him will be ruined—and dogged bloodhound Diana is his best hope at sniffing out the truth. As Giles and Diana dive into his family’s past, the attraction that the two of them insisted wasn’t there proves impossible to ignore. Soon, the future of the Sinclair estate isn’t the only thing on the line…

Never Rescue a Rogue, the next book in the Merriwell Sisters series, is filled with whip-smart banter, swoony romance, hilarious mishaps, and twisty reveals that will make you gasp and laugh in delight; Virginia Heath’s latest is one you won’t want to miss.

Great story

Loved this book more then the first, and I really enjoyed that one. This one kept me on my toes and I was actually surprised by a few of the things at the end, usually I can see the surprises a mile away.

Delightful and fun!

I have been needing some lighter books with charming stories that just make me smile. The first in the series and now this, the second, have been absolutely perfect. Can’t wait for the third, though I hope the author starts another series soon!

What a delicious book!

I wish more of Virginia Heath books were recorded. She is terrific. The narrator for this book, Kristin Atherton, was absolutely perfect! The book was a delight and I cannot wait for the last book in this trilogy.

Quick fun read

This book was such a fun and refreshing read. It felt a bit rushed in the end, but will definitely be recommending it.

great book and best narrator!

I really loved listening to this book.
the author has a great talent to create tension between the couple and the story kept me hooked throughout the whole book, so I definitely want to read the rest of the series as well.

The experience is made perfect by narrator Christin Atherton, who is - in my opinion - the only female narrator so far, that sounds absolutely great even when speaking male voices (and sometimes you wonder if it's really her alone speaking all those voices.)
I really hope the third book will be narrated by her again.

A DELIGHT!

I just adore The Merriwell Sisters!!!

After reading Never Fall For Your Fiancé (Book 1 in this series), I jumped at the chance to read book 2! This story focuses around Diana and Giles - who are perfect for each other and everyone knows it but them 😊

🌸 historical romance
🌸 witty humor
🌸 a side mystery plot that will keep you intrigued
🌸 slowwww burn & closed-door
🌸 great tension and chemistry between our MCs

This book was just a delight and it was hard to not root for Diana and Giles to get together! Definitely recommend if you’re looking for an engaging and fast paced historical romance!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to @netgalley and @smpromance for an e-ARC of this book - all opinions are my own!

Storyline better than book 1, but narrator was meh

I read (listened to) this book immediately following the first, so I had the characters and history and background fresh in my mind - it’s a series that is very closely linked and important details carry over, so it’s best to read them in order and not as a standalone.

Giles and Diana feature prominently in Never Fall For Your Fake Fiancée, which is about her sister and his best friend faking an engagement so his mom won’t try to marry him off in the Ton. Giles and Diana have an enemies to lovers dynamic in that they can’t stand to be around each other, but everyone else can see the chemistry.

Giles has a situation arise that Diana is able to help out with, causing them to be in proximity and realize that what the others have been saying might have truth to it…

Another great regency romance that I quite enjoyed listening to - this one was a single narrator (unlike book 1), Kristin Atherton. I wasn’t nearly as much of a fan of the audio version of this book as the first, but enjoyed the storyline more.

I LOVE this book! Cannot wait for the 3rd one.

I loved the first book and this one is even better. Kristin Atherton narration was perfect - the inflections, attitudes, comedic timing - added so much to the story. I hope she narrates the last in the series as well.

The book is well worth it as I’ve listened to it multiple times now.

Fun, Romantic, & a Touch of Mystery

I truly enjoyed this listen! The narrator did a fine job.
The story was believable & I did laugh out loud at the strong willed Diana.
Recommend, as I listened start to finish during the day while doing housework. Worth the 1 credit indeed!
