About this listen

Clueless meets Bridgerton in this spicy opposites-attract Regency romance told with “self-assured style, wit, and energy” (Lisa Kleypas, New York Times bestselling author).

Lady Vesper Lyndhurst is beautiful, clever, and popular. Afforded every luxury as a duke’s daughter, she fills her days with friends, intrigues, and a self-professed knack for matchmaking. She may have sworn off love for herself, but she is rather excellent at arranging it.

Faced with an insolvent estate, the Duke of Greydon has no choice but to return to England in a final attempt to revive his family’s fortunes. He’s been gone for years, happy to have escaped his mother and the petty circles of the ton. To his dismay, not much has changed, including the beautiful and vexing heiress next door.

But when an accident of fate traps the friends-turned-enemies in an attic together, the explosive attraction between them becomes impossible to ignore and even harder to resist. They are total opposites and their lives don’t align in the slightest, but fate, the ultimate matchmaker, appears to have other plans . . .

"Refreshing, steamy, and stocked with characters you don’t normally get to see in the genre—a must-read author." —Jodi Picoult, #1 New York Times bestselling author

Very sweet historical romance

A cute grumpy duke who doesn't believe in love (due to his evil mother). His childhood neighbor and friend (now enemy) is Lady Vesper who wants a true love or nothing. The dialogue is witty with banter and there is the "ton" and their expectations to keep everyone in line. This was very charming and loved the characters. The evil mother was quite a good addition as I loved hating her. Sweet series for a fun listen without too much drama and definately a great HEA.

Wonderfully wicked!

Such a great story. How could best friends, thick as thieves, grow up to hate each other? What could ever happen to have them even consider to speak to one another? Well….almost 7 yrs later, accidentally lock them in the attic for starters!

Cute Romance

Never Met a Duke Like You was cute but neither really talked to each other until they teamed up to take down his evil mother. I just needed more.

A little long

I loved everything about this book. The narrator is one of my favorites, if not my favorite. The story was a little long, but listening to this narrator made it worth it.

Adorable story, incredible narrator

Mary Jane Wells is one of my favorite narrators. She really sucks you into the story.

This story was really cute. When I first read the premise of “clueless meets Bridgerton” I was expecting a spicy Emma (Jane Austen), which is what that would be. But I stand corrected, it does share more with the movie Clueless as story structure.

The Hero had some incredible lines and made me replay them.

The third act miscommunication didn’t last long, thankfully. But it was still kind of a let down. They were already at odds. The “I must break their heart for their own sake” trope is good and angst-y, but it pushed me over the edge. I almost fast forwarded through that part.

I look forward to the next installment. I really enjoy these stories.
