About this listen

He crept forward between the tall narrow aisles created by the shelves. Just before he reached the corner he heard a thump, the sound of a body hitting the floor. He rushed forward into the corner of the room. The desk was empty. The chair was pushed up against it, neatly awaiting its usual occupant. No one was in the corner. No one was there to make the sound. No one...alive. A cold chill ran down his back. He really wanted to leave the room. Instead, he moved closer. He walked to the window and looked outside. Snow fell softly on the rooftops in the city of Freeport. It was Christmas Eve, a night of peace and miracles. "Go home." He jumped around. The voice was just behind him. Even before he turned, he knew no one would be there. He rubbed the back of his neck, still cold from the breath that carried those words. The curse had killed another law enforcement officer in Stephenson County, this time it struck on Christmas Eve. Nearly a dozen good men died in the past four years and they all had the same unexplained symptoms.

Can I say WOW I love this series

What did you love best about Never Forgotten?

I have to say I have enjoy this series so much. I can not wait to listen to the next one. I love how the stories always leave you guessing. Terri Reid is a talented writer and Erin Spencer is a wonderful Narrator. I hope we do not have to wait to long to see what happen next and I do hope we learn more about some of the behind the scene stories about a few of the other members of the story as we did in this last one.

Yes, I liked the book.

I will finish the series, but I have a question. How can a ghost have physical contact with something? Why would you agree to a ghost being your backup?

At one point a ghost hands Mary something she needs. Yet, when she is getting her butt kicked, the ghost can do nothing?

Did I miss something?

Murder By Narrator

The Mary O'Reilly series is fun, and I'd hoped the audiobooks would be perfect for road trip listening. But I'm abandoning that hope and will finish Book 3 in Kindle edition. I'm sure Erin Spencer is a perfectly nice person, but her narration is unbearable. Her use of glottal fry ("croaky throat") to signal a male voice, coupled with her habit of pausing for several beats before adding "s/he said" after each sentence of dialogue has finally become too distracting; Mary & Bradley will have to carry on without me listening.

Best one yet!

Would you consider the audio edition of Never Forgotten to be better than the print version?

I can't compare as I did not read the print version. I was totally please with the audio edition of this book.

What did you like best about this story?

Reid has a talent for writing a main story along with side stories...and you are interested in all of them.

What about Erin Spencer’s performance did you like?

I was very happy with her performance.

If you could take any character from Never Forgotten out to dinner, who would it be and why?

All the 'dead' women. I would like to know their own heartfelt feelings on how they put up with what they had been dealt in life.

Any additional comments?

I have read all books in this series and very pleased with #1 and #2...but this book took it out of the park. I was very pleased with everything.

More Mysterious Deaths than books 1 & 2

Man O Man, you get to met a Lot of Ghosts in this book. This time Mary Mets Jeannine Bradley's wife, but told she can not tell Brad because he is not ready to know yet. Also she tells Mary Brad is in danger and she must help him. Narrator again does a Great job with the characters voices and the entire storyline.

SAVE YOUR CREDITS - Series keeps getting worse

I like the idea of the series - not too deep, a little romance and - initially - a bit of humor. But after the first book - Good Tidings - it went down hill. Poor character development, insipid dialogue, predictable plot. The narrator got worse, and worse. Her male voices were creepy and the "chuckles" were weird. Really annoying.

SPOILER ALERT!!!
With the end of the second book, Loose Ends, I figured I'd get the third one just to see what happens with the missing wife. BUT OF COURSE, the writer keeps that story line going unresolved. I skipped to the end to see if (REALLY?) she's going to pull that ploy and sure enough.... poor stupid Mary has to keep what she knows a secret from poor stupid Bradley. I did not bother with finishing.

I have listened to literally hundreds of Audible Books and seldom write reviews. This is not the worse book or the worse narrator I've listened to but maybe the most annoying.
