Publisher's summary

Last season, Lady Nina Trent fell for a scoundrel. This year, she intends to choose more wisely....

When a duke more interested in fox hunting and sports than womanizing comes to town, Nina thinks him the perfect catch. Sadly, he doesn't seem to notice her. But Lord Elliot Haverford, Baron Ralston, a notorious flirt, has a proposition: He'll not only pretend to vie for her hand, hoping to draw forth the duke's competitive nature, he'll also give Nina lessons in seduction.

An aristocrat in possession of two dilapidated properties must be in want of a fortune. Elliot's proposition is a subterfuge, for he hopes to capture Nina's hand - and her dowry - by slyly seducing her himself. Though he feels guilty over his deception, their interludes, filled with dancing, flirtation, and increasingly heated kisses, are impossible to regret...until he realizes he has unwittingly placed Nina in grave danger.

What's a scoundrel in love to do except finally risk his heart for real?

Contains mature themes.

Great

Great but....got pretty tired with the *family* telling the H/h what to do and how they should go forward.

Irritating but I LOVED Elliott!

Love the reader!

It's a fun story and I love the reader's voice. I enjoy that it's a continuation of a story that I've already listened to.

Love this series!!

Elliot is my favorite character of the series so far. His care for his sister along with love for Nina shine through. I listened to it at speed 1.3 and thoroughly enjoyed the narrator. I’m so sad the remaining two books are not on Audible.

Narrator made the story

This was a lovely story with the just right amount of mystery, romance and angst. I can hardly wait for the sister’s story to unfold. The end felt a bit rushed but didn’t take away from the story.

Full marks for every book in this series

I have loved every one. I can’t decide which is my favourite - this one or book 3. I really like the nuances in the characters’ relationships across the books.

The changing scenery in this book really set it apart from the others for me. I love how the author has built out the world as she has unfolded the stories.

The only thing I would have loved to have seen is the below stairs characters making cameos BEFORE their ultimate introduction. Or maybe they do? I think I will find out because I do plan to reread the series in a few months/years ❤️

I suppose I will now move on to something else from this wonderful narrator 👏
