About this listen

In this steamy Regency romp, Lady Selina is determined to find the Duke of Stanhope the perfect wife—the only problem is she's starting to think that might be her.

Peter Kent—newly inherited Duke of Stanhope and recently of New Orleans, Louisiana—must become respectable. Between his radical politics and the time he interrupted a minor royal wedding with a flock of sheep—not his fault!—he’s developed a scandalous reputation at odds with his goal of becoming guardian to his half-siblings. For help, he turns to the cleverest and most managing woman of his acquaintance, Lady Selina Ravenscroft.

Selina is society’s most proper debutante, save one tiny secret: she runs an erotic circulating library for women. When Peter asks for her help, she suggests courtship and marriage to a lady of unimpeachable reputation. (Which is to say, definitely not herself.)

But matchmaking doesn’t go according to plan. Peter’s siblings run rampant on Bond Street. Selina ends up in the Serpentine. And worst of all, the scorching chemistry between Peter and Selina proves impossible to resist. For the disreputable duke and his unpredictable matchmaker, falling in love just might be the ultimate scandal.

This book has everything I love: strong female; strong, kind male; steamy scenes; true love; and no wickedly evil backstabbers or deception!!! Aside from the main romance, there are a couple interesting storylines that keep the plot going. I highly recommend this book and this author!!!!

Perfect!

Dislike female voice for male characters. Each gender should voice their own character in the book.

Good read!

This delightful gem had me laughing, swooning, and fully immersed from start to finish! The narration was perfect, particularly with Peter’s Louisiana drawl. Highly recommend!

Funny, Sweet and Heartwarming

This doesn’t read like a debuts novel. It’s charming and funny, and while it hits all the expected beats for a modern HR, it stands out as very much its own story. Unlike a number of pleasant enough HR novels, this one won’t be blending in with all the others.

Fresh and funny.

I tho6this book would never end. There wasn't much excitement and the storyline didn't engage me. The narrator had a horrible American accent and the way she paused after words was driving me nuts.

Not very engaging

The narrator was fantastic, I just had to increase the speed as the talking was a bit too slow for me to follow. Once I did that, I was fully engaged with the story. Awesome debut novel!! Can’t wait for the next one in the series!!

Fun, Regency rom-com. Spicy scenes did NOT disappoint.

3.5 stars. This is the first full length novel from this author. Her Hallifax novellas were great but this book was just not at the same level as her novella triology. Some of the banter in the beginning of the book was excellent and there is a lot of potential in her writing. I felt that there wasn't enough conflict between the characters to really push the story along. Bravo on the references to banned books in the past I did really enjoy learning about the forbidden literature and libraries. I hope she keeps writing and I'll look forward to her next novel.
