About this listen

Introverted scholar Percival Endicott Whyborne has spent the last few months watching his lover, Griffin Flaherty, come to terms with the rejection of his adoptive family. So when an urgent telegram from Christine summons them to Egypt, Whyborne is reluctant to risk the fragile peace they've established. Until, that is, a man who seems as much animal as human tries to murder Whyborne in the museum.

Amidst the ancient ruins of the pharaohs, they must join Christine and face betrayal, murder, and a legendary sorceress risen from the dead. In the forge of the desert heat, the trio will either face their fears and stand together - or shatter the bonds between them forever.

The narrator is improving

What made the experience of listening to Necropolis the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed the camel trying to eat Percival's fez throughout.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I have decided that I don't like books that take place in the desert. Although I did like learning a bit about the excavation of the Egyptian artifacts.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I think the narrator is getting better about distinguishing his voices from one another or maybe I am just getting back at the subtle shifts in his tone. It does seem though that while he is trying to make the voices distinctive, sometimes a bit of the acting is lost in the delivery.

If you could rename Necropolis, what would you call it?

It suited the work.

Any additional comments?

This story was a little slow for me for some reason. I generally like the Whybourne and Griffin stories so this must be an indicator that I need to take a break and come back to them. It just seems that Percival uses magic and Griffin gets annoyed. Christine shows her remarkable resourcefulness and unwavering determination again and I guess I would just like a little variation on these characters. Although we did draw out more emotion from Christine in this story than I have ever noticed before. Maybe that was the problem is the story seemed more centered on her.

Favourite so far

This is definitely my favourite Whyborne & Griffin story yet. I love stories set in Egypt and their mythology, so that gave it an extra draw for me. I don't want to give anything away, so I will just say, things look good for Christine...

Superb installment to an already stellar series

I bow to the talent that is author Jordan L. Hawk and narrator Julian G. Simmons!! Just finished listening to the audio of Necropolis and the narration blew me away (or was that Whyborne's lightning spell?) I've read all the books in this series and listened to and loved all of the audios. These characters own such a firm place in my heart, and I find the perfect manner in which Mr. Simmons brings them to life complements the joy of Jordan's amazing stories.

I'm a huge audio book fan and this series is my favorite. :-)

Great Story - Great Sex

The author wrote a great roller coasters tale. Plenty of ups and downs and mind jarring turns! When I listened to the scene in the tent in the middle of a sand storm, I some come on that would never happen. But after I pondered it, it made perfect erotic sense for to hot gay guys.

Best book in the series yet!

Necropolis is my personal favorite in the series. The plot is a little slow to develop while the author builds suspense and mystery, but the climax is a rush of adrenaline that is the very definition of page-turner!

"I am a Sorcerer"

Whyborne and Griffen travel to Egypt, and mayhem ensues. Once again Jordan L Hawk has created a great story for her heroes to unravel. And Whyborne has finally admitted that he is a sorcerer!
I hope that JLH will continue with this series, the characters, energy, and story lines are a great read, and I don't think that anyone could do Percival Endicott Whyborne better than Julian G. Simmons.
