Very engaging
It is rare that I get so into a book that I get emotionally attached to the storyline.
this one I did. I was cheering when The Lost Souls were victorious and was close to tears when each fell. one by one.
I "saw" what was going to happen but, I still listened. Impatience creased my brow but couldn't tear myself away.
When the event did happen, I admit, I cheered.
Definitely will get book 2.

Off to a good start!
Great story and excellent narration. I like the tie in to the Ledger universe. Hope that goes somewhere. I’m looking forward to the next one.

Not up to Mayberry standards
Mayberry is one of my favorite authors and Ray is my favorite reader by far, but even Ray couldn't save this one for me. Lovecraftian mythos combined with space exploration? Great, I'm all in. But when the physics demolishing Voltron giant robot chimera idea from 80s kids TV is added to the mix, you kinda lose me in a cartoon jump the shark moment. Jonathan's friends and editors should have encouraged him to shelve this one.

Slow and it doesn’t draw you in
I’m a fan of all things JM but there is something about this story that just doesn’t draw me in. It’s slow going and that’s at a speed of 1.5 when listening. The story is not exciting and just too all over the place. I don’t know. Out of all his books, this one is the least favorite. It’s taking me a while to complete it and complete it I will but I’ll do it kicking and screaming. As always, Ray does a wonderful job at narration.

Ray Porter was awesome as always.
Not Maberry's best work. I like that he's trying sci-fi, but this one was not up to his usual great writing.
