About this listen
Are you feeling overwhelmed? Struggling with a life that is full and overflowing? Harassed with overlapping appointments and unachievable schedules? Do you wish you could simplify your life?
Ruth Amos shares her journey through a year where she learned about saying no, saying yes, and bringing some balance and joy back into her overfull existence. She hopes that you will also find peace through lessons she has learned, such as:
- How to create a time budget and know what to put in and what to leave out.
- When it is right to say no to a worthwhile activity, and when it is better to say yes to something uncomfortable.
- How to tell if you’re just being lazy, when to push yourself, and when it is better to rest.

When New York Times bestselling author Jon Acuff got curious about tapping into his full potential, he launched a research study with Dr. Mike Peasley. They asked more than three thousand people if they felt they were living up to their full potential. Fifty percent of people reported that 50 percent of their full potential is untapped. That means half of us are walking around with half-lives. No wonder Twitter is so grumpy.

Story
This is a book for working women and mothers who are ready to release the culturally inherited belief that their worth is equal to their productivity, and instead create a personal and professional life that's based on presence, meaning, and joy. As opposed to focusing on "fitting it all in", time management, and leaning in, as so many books geared at ambitious women do, this book embraces the notion that through doing less women can have - and be - more.

Can goals be easy? What is the secret? Some goals feel difficult. Other goals feel easy to achieve. Why is this? There are many factors that can help us, or sabotage us on our way to achieving our goals. Once we understand these building blocks, we can put them to use to design goals that work for us. Building blocks? Think of them as tools that remove difficulty and enhance achievement. Look at these five common-sense ideas that help. First, humans are short-term thinkers. Our initial goals need short timelines. We also have short-term memories.

Many of us breathe a grateful TGIF when Friday rolls around, envisioning a weekend full of both productivity and refreshment. Yet too often our precious weekends seem to disappear, eaten up by unproductive work or leisure that fails to energize us. Monday morning comes too fast, finding us still unrested, with too much still undone. Time management expert Laura Vanderkam, continuing her series on What the Most Successful People Do, shows how we can take control of our weekends to get necessary R&R, while also using our downtime as a springboard to a productive week.

delightful
I really enjoyed this book! I highly recommend it for anyone feeling like they have difficulty balancing things or feel overwhelmed. This has some great tips and perspectives and I'm sure I will read it again. (Also, the author/narrator's Tasmanian accent is a joy to listen to!)
