About this listen

Tiger Ann Parker is smart in school and good at baseball, but she's forever teased about her family by the girls in class. Tiger Ann knows her folks are different from others in their small town of Saitter, Louisiana. They are mentally slow, and Tiger Ann keeps her pain and embarrassment hidden as long as her strong and smart Granny runs the household.

Then Granny dies suddenly and Aunt Dorie Kay arrives, offering Tiger Ann a way out. Now Tiger Ann must make the most important decision of her life.

The familiarity of the story.

This story felt like it was about my own family. Enjoyed every minute. Reminded me of my childhood.

CAmilia family ties

Great narrative and character development .. Written with a wonderful concise and poetic pen…alas the reader almost ruined it by making Tiger into an imitation of a country western twang..but it’s a fine book.

Job well done!!!

I loved the clarity of the speech and the detail of the dialect in the story.

It is the story of a very strong girl.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The subject didn't appeal to me in the beginning. Because it was on the school reading list we decided to listen to it. I started to like the story. It is amazing how the main character feels a love and protection for her parents. The author has a nice way of describing how the tables are turned; the child is turned into the caregiver.

An absolute delight!

I adored this sweet book. I was born in Pineville, Louisiana just outside of Alexandria. The characters are wonderful and feel like family. Highly recommend this book.
