About this listen

My Fair Lady meets the classic teen film She's All That in this charming and swoony new rom-com from Brian D. Kennedy, author of A Little Bit Country. Perfect for fans of What If It's Us and She Gets the Girl.

Wade Westmore is used to being in the spotlight. So when he’s passed over for the lead in the spring musical, it comes as a major blow—especially when the role goes to his ex-boyfriend, Reese, who dumped him for being too self-involved.

Shy sophomore Elijah Brady is used to being overlooked. Forget not knowing his name—most of his classmates don’t even know he exists. So when he joins the stage crew for the musical, he seems destined to blend into the scenery.

When the two have a disastrous backstage run-in, Elijah proposes an arrangement that could solve both boys’ problems: If Wade teaches Elijah how to be popular, Wade can prove that he cares about more than just himself. Seeing a chance to win Reese back, Wade dives headfirst into helping Elijah become the new and improved “Brady.”

Soon their plan puts Brady center stage—and he’s a surprising smash hit. So why is Wade suddenly less worried about winning over his ex and more worried about losing Elijah?

This story seems so real that it’s easy to get pulled in and root for the protagonist! The author is amazing in his insight into the human condition is profound. great character depth. Narration is absolutely tremendous. Among the best books, I’ve listened to this year.

This was a really cute, predictable story. It was the perfect story to escape from life and just enjoy! I wish that every high school could be as open and accepting as this fictional one.

Cute!!!

This story was agonizing. That’s what it’s like waiting for teenagers to figure out how they feel about anything let alone someone they like. This story was fun. I agonized with reading it. Did I really want to invest that much time into a story about drama queens aka theater kids. I did go for and I’m glad I did.

The reading was good the voices were subtly different—different enough to keep up with and that’s no small thing for me.

The plot and the characters developed well.

I highly recommend this book.

This book was fantastic! The plot, the story itself, the characters! They all draw you in so much! I felt soo connected to Elijah. When the audio finished I was soo happy but at the same time sad because it was just a great listen that I want more.

The narrator also sell this novel very well! They both did a wonderful job!

IS THERE A SEQUAL? I need more!!!

Even though I don’t read much YA anymore, this was very well written, and the performances were great! <3

Enjoyed very much

…and innocent coming of age story where awkward teenage boys find each other and they, and we readers, are the better for it. Nothing particularly groundbreaking in terms of storytelling but the young protagonists are very likable and the story hums along in a satisfying way. Michael Crouch, as narrator, elevates the material as he does with everything he performs. It’s a good read. I enjoyed it.

A very sweet…
