About this listen

Sir Giles Thackery - renowned Terran detective - is defrosted from cyro-sleep to tackle one of his toughest cases to date. Ambassadors of the Galactic Guild are turning up dead in the most gruesome ways on board the luxury cruise liner, the Euripides. Accompanied only by his great - to the eighteenth generation - granddaughter, elite SLASP Agent, Nanette Thackery, Sir Giles rushes from one murder to the next, desperately seeking the answers to why. In the end, it all winds up in a friendly game of squash to trap the culprit. The Galactic Guild watches on in anticipation as the seconds tick out before there is another victim.

In the spirit of Blake Edwards', The Pink Panther, and the fun of Mel Brooks', Spaceballs, Murder on Euripides, delivers on laughs and mayhem.

Sci Fi Mystery

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Idk. I immensely enjoyed The Kili Wanna Affair. Although this work is by the same author and narrator, it took me over the course of a month to finish listening to it.

Would you be willing to try another book from Scott A. Combs? Why or why not?

I am interested in listening to his next George & Sali Adventure.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narrator pegged the George & Sali Adventure. Perhaps his pace was too fast for this mystery adventure and its characters.

Was Murder on Euripides worth the listening time?

It's probably worth the time to read it.

Sci Fi with a dry sense of humor.

I enjoyed this book due to its Sci Fi and dry sense of humor. Easy to listen to with good narration.

I really enjoy this kind of sci-for fluff

It's a Saturday and I've got chores to do, I don't want heavy mental lifting I want to be amused. This fills the bill.

The beginning

of a great series...can't wait for the next one!! LOL funny space opera that is filled with mystery, aliens and more!! Excellently read especially considering the wide variety of characters. Sir Giles is the Sherlock Holmes of time and space as he is awakened only when the whole Universe is a stake. The plot is filled with twists and a good time was had by all. So worth the credit!

humor is harder than it looks

Every victim is murdered in a new grotesque manner. Slapstick humor in the style of Pink Panther. Could not finish because the detective is such a failure.

The author struggles tells us over and over that the detective is smart while he fails at every clue, as each victim is telegraphed beforehand. Some glaring stereotypes just aren't funny anymore.

Here are some books to try instead for broad SF humor in this style :
Up aTree by Michael Schulkins
The Kili Wanna Affair: a Galactic Guild Comedy by Scott A Combs
Reggie Cide by Chris Dolley
Battlestar Suburbia by Chris McCrudden
